Artsy Leaves for Twofer and As You See It

Hi Everyone.

I have a quick post for you tonight, but have two cards to share for Twofer.  Have you heard of Twofer?  You have to make two different cards using the same stamp and, as it is the first day of Fall, leaves is the the appropriate choice for the challenge 🙂

I also saw this fabulous color challenge across at As You See It

I have a very old Fun Stamper's Journey stamp set called "Artsy Leaves".  It's one of those very versatile sets that I have used often.

My first card for the Twofer challenge uses the colors from the As You See It challenge.   I love the mixture of blues with the limey-yellow.

Firstly, let's take a closeup of the colors and the stamp that I used for both cards:

I used some Dr PH Martin's liquid watercolors for my first card.  I love the intensity of them and how they blended to give me the colors that I needed.    The limey-yellow comes from a bottle of liquid color from Fun Stamper's Journey.

Here's my full card:

I really do love the mixture of the blue, green and limey-yellow.   My mother always used to say "blue and green should never been seen"!  Now…. my Mom was often right about things, but, in this case, I don't think she was 🙂  Depending on the blues and the greens, they can look gorgeous together!

My second card uses exactly the same stamp.  But, instead of the multiple stamped images with the brighter colors, I toned it down completely and went with a very clean and simple card.  I needed a sympathy card and thought that the single leaf on it's own would work really well.  I colored the leaf with my Copic markers.

Here's a closeup of the second card:

I die-cut a rectangle using my stitched rectangles and backed that with fun foam and mounted it to my base.  A simple sentiment finished the card.

I'll be back tomorrow with my Paper Players card.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. You’ve made two distinctly different designs with your leaf stamp, Jaydee, which hits the nail on the head of this challenge concept! I love how you rocked the colors of the As You See It challenge on your first beautiful card! I also love the gold embossing and your choice of that warm green for the sediment and card base was inspired! And your CAS sympathy card design is breathtaking in its simplicity and beautifully colored!! Thank you so much for playing in Twofer Card Challenge #9! Hugs, Darnell
(When I was growing up, I heard the same thing about not putting blues and greens together, so I avoided it when I first started making cards. Then one day a professional artist friend heard me say that and she smiled wisely and said, “Someone forgot to tell the universe that because the blue sky meets up with the green trees and grass.” That was a big aha moment for me and now the combinations of blues and greens are my go-to favorites! Sorry for the novel, but I thought you’d love that story!)

  2. Very pretty, Jaydee. I also thought that these colors would make a beautiful leaf themed card, but I decided on a different direction. I love your watercoloring and the spackling of the lemon-lime color. I also love the simple leaf sympathy card.

  3. Such different cards, in feel and colour! Being a mostly CAS girl myself, I love the second one. The way you’ve used the challenge colours is striking. I love the lime splatters – they don’t shout at you but add their note to the mix and without them the result would be poorer. Thank you for joining us at As You See It Challenge – it’s good to see you here!

  4. I agree with you and Darnell and the universe: blues and greens are my favourites together, and you have made them beautiful in your card, Jaydee, especially with the gold embossing! That is such a cool stamp set! Thanks for joining us at As You See It Challenges!

  5. Those aqua blues are just gorgeous with the lime green, Jaydee … and are complemented wonderfully by the metallic embossing. The tiny splatters add such a delicious sense of movement to your tumble of leaves! Your second card is a beauty … crisp and CAS with just the loveliest rich colour on the single leaf … a perfect sympathy card! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Twofer! Anita 🙂

  6. That Artsy Leaf lives up to its name, particularly with your designs and especially with your gorgeous, vibrant colors! Fantastic twofer, Jaydee! Thanks for joining in the fun with us at the Twofer Card Challenge!

  7. THese leaves are fabulous…so pretty embossed in gold, and equally striking stamped in earth tones! Both cards are beautiful in their own way….the AYSI colors really stand out, but as a huge fan of ORANGE, I am loving the second one too! Thanks for sharing this with us this week!
