It's the fabulous Nance's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a great theme for us:
This challenge was perfect for me. Tea is MY drink. I take after my Dad on this one. I like my tea strong – really strong. None of that weak stuff with tepid water and a teabag that has been dipped in it a couple of times 🙂 I drink Irish Breakfast or Assam that have been steeping for about 5 minutes. Just a little bit of milk.
In Britain, a good cup of tea is a cure for everything. Had a bad day? Here's a cup of tea. Broken up with the boyfriend? Here's a cup of tea. Need a quick 15 minute break from work? here's a cup of tea. It's not just the action of having a cup of tea, it's the fact that there is a warm and welcoming person who is there to sit down with and share the trials and tribulations – or joys – of a situation. It's the friendship. It's the companionship. It truly is a part of my childhood 🙂
So, the sentiment that I chose for this card, really epitomizes how I feel about tea and I was so glad when Altenew created this set.
I decided to go for a color scheme that is pretty unusual for me……but I'm blaming Nance for this one 🙂 The three cups that first caught my eye in her wonderful badge had a main color of pink… with gold… and I decided to run with that.
I stamped the cup onto some gorgeous DSP from my stash and die-cut it. I covered the "tea" in the cup with Glossy Accents to give a little shine to it.

I love the gold embossing, I think it does help to represent the wonderful image that Nance chose and the bright pink and gold go better together than I thought they would 🙂
I also love the pink tulip DSP it has a lightness to it and is unabashedly feminine 🙂

On a personal note:
It's going to be 82 degrees here today! The sun is shining and we had our first few drops of rain last night. I swear I can watch the grass turning green. Still mostly brown…but there are patches of green coming in. It's also the time of the year when you can start to see a green haze appearing on the trees. The birds are singing… Spring is definitely – finally – here. It's been such a long, cold, winter that the Minnesota Fishing Opener weekend sees some of the lakes still frozen! But, it feels so good to finally feel warm 🙂
I'm off to my craft room today as I need to make the final project for the Level 2 Altenew Educator Certification Program. The challenge is to create a home decor project and I've been mulling this idea around in my head all week, so am going to try to see if what is in my head can be made into this home decor project.
Oh.. yeah! I have to video it too, if I can. Now… it has been multiple years since I made a video and I'm not sure I even know how to use my camera and I know for sure I no longer have video editing software… so will have to go find one. Later this week you will see the home decor project – and maybe…….. a video 🙂
Before I sign off, here's a couple of photos for you….. Barb… you asked me what these birds are – so here's a closeup for you…… .Our Sandhill Crane comes by just about every evening and he is a welcome visitor. I managed to catch this shot of him as the sun was setting
This guy was hanging around the last few days of winter. I think it had been a very long winter for him and he was much more active around our garden than is normal. Generally the Coopers are stealth hunters – they come out of no-where. However, he was hanging around near the feeders and didn't mind that he could be seen. he must have been really hungry.
I''l be back later in the week with (hopefully) my finished decor project. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

What a great card! Thee gold embossing and delicate pattern are perfect for re-creating the beautiful bone china cups and the sentiment perfect for that rescue-pick-me-up cuppa. The British brought the tradition of a cup of tea solving everything with them to New Zealand. No meal in my childhood was complete without a pot of strongly brewed ‘gumboot’ tea on the table.
I learned to drink tea some years ago and I just love it. I have a collection and among them, of course, there is some Assam tea. Have just been in Paris and there was, certainly, a visit to the Grand Epicerie to fill some gaps in my sheves. Let’s us drink to friendship and generosity!!
Hi Jaydee! You’ve created such a sweet card and I love your teacup especially! Perfect dsp pattern and the gold embossing makes it look so real. I’ve grown fond of Barry’s tea after a visit to Ireland. It’s hard to find around here but every once in awhile I stumble across it. You’re right, it makes a strong cup! Love it!
The bird photos are wonderful. Your hawk looks tired and hungry! Our temps changed drastically like yours and it’s almost hard to acclimate to. But green grass and leaves on the trees make it all worth the quick change in weather! We saw our first tiny hummingbird this weekend at our feeder! The smallest I’ve had. So thankful they come back to visit for summer! Good luck with your project and video, I’ve never attempted one of those!
Jaydee… love the card but love the story even better! Reminds me a bit of this Sheldon character on the Big Bang Theory… any woe and a cup of tea might be the answer! My parents are both Irish… and they too can describe the perfect cup of tea. Alas I was born here and am a coffee drinker. Glad the weather is finally cooperating with you folks… enjoy!
BTW… I have every confidence in your home decor project AND your ability to make a video. Maybe you can teach a few of us who have never made a video what needs to be done! Good luck!

Jaydee, I always enjoy reading your blog. I feel like I am there with you! Oh, how I would love to share a cup of tea with you and gaze out into your beautiful nature preserve! I am loving the pretty pink and feminine teacup Jaydee, but your sentiment and blog post totally ring true for me this week – we are kindred tea spirits, as I am a devoted tea drinker and drink it just like you – brewed strong enough to stand a teaspoon up in and with just a spot of milk! It is though, the cure for everything! What fabulous bird pictures this week – so glad spring has finally sprung for you too – it’s been a long time coming.

Jaydee! This is gorgeous. I love that you were inspired by the teacups in the photo–they’re my Scottish Nana’s! The sentiment is wonderful and I love the gold embossing, just like the real thing.
