Hi Everyone.
Quick post for you tonight.
I needed a birthday card and went looking for a little inspiration. I found this great challenge across at the Male Room
Initially, I was looking through my stamp sets for something with a vintage feel – but then I came across an old set from My Favorite Things called Uncorked and it had the perfect sentiment for the challenge. Oh… and… to be honest.. it was the perfect sentiment for the person this card is going to. I've known this particular gent for 40 years and I swear he hasn't aged a bit… there has to be some magic in his blood that he really never seems to age.
So, I hope the team at the Male Room will find it OK that I went with Vintage in terms of a) wine and b) age and not as a design style.
I found some fabulous paper in the My Minds Eye Paperpack called Blush and that was the start of my color choices.
I also have a die set from My Favorite Things that pairs really well with the sentiment set. I used that to die-cut two glasses from frosted vellum. I colored the glasses with my Copic markers and mounted them onto a focal layer and added the sentiment. The great thing about coloring the glasses is that you can hide the glue and foam dots behind the coloring.
Here's a closeup of the glasses:
The coloring behind the vellum works really well. I adhered one of the glasses directly to the focal base and then popped up the other one for a little heigh difference and, yes, I did… I really did cut the tiniest little piece of a foam dot to add underneath the base of the glass!
Once the focal layer was ready, I mounted it onto a piece of fun foam and then adhered it to the base.
Here's my full card and I apologize for the finger mark on the lens:
I love this DSP. You can't really see it in the photo but that gold line is a lovely foiled gold. I know that foil and gold don't generally scream masculine – but this reminds me of a finely cut suit 🙂
I'll be back on Saturday with my Paper Players card. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee

Yes, the DSP does look like suit material! Very nicely done!
I agree the paper is suit material AND vintage wine? GREAT. What a wonderful think outside the box. I think the wine glasses are just SUPER and the little 3D foam can’t even be seen LOL. Great sentiment too. Well done. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful card with us at The Male Room – Faith DT
The paper reminds me of material in a pin-stripe suit, so perfectly masculine!! I do like your take on the vintage theme and I like the softness on the glasses. Such a fun sentiment. Thanks so much for playing along with the vintage theme at The Male Room. Deborah. DT
