Masculine Hello for Inkspirational – and winner of the blog candy!

Hi Everyone.  Happy Tuesday.

Well, I promised you a card tonight – and I also promised to reveal the winner of the blog candy competition that I have been running for the past week.  I will be fulfilling both of those promises with this post 🙂

Firstly, my card.

Oh… I had such fun creating a card for this inkspirational challenge:

It was the big, bold hello that caught my attention and I knew exactly what to use to create my card.  A couple of months ago I purchased the Bold Alphabet die from Altenew after seeing the amazing Therese Calvird use it several times.  I wanted to make a masculine card, as I have so few that I have made for the Card Care Connection and Cards for Hospitalized Kids.  I had just received a couple of 6×6 card packs that I ordered from My Minds Eye and one of them has some great masculine papers.  I looked through them and found two that I could pair together for a fun card.

Here's a closeup of the bold sentiment.  Oh, and don't tell Lou… but I managed to sneak a little glitter pen onto the masculine card (shock, horror!!!!)

I popped up the bold alpha letters using the adhesive foam strips from Stampin' Up!  I love those things!  But to make the sentiment pop from the busy background, I put a white layer between the two.  Here's my full card:

I know it doesn't look straight… but I swear it is!   It was a rainy, dull day, so I had to take a photo of my card on the dinette window sill.  Not the best shot in the best light – but I think you get a good idea of the card.  I love how the DSP for the HELLO picks up the brown in some of the jackets for the bulldogs.  Being a Brit by birth, I thought the bulldog was appropriate 🙂

I hope you play along with the Inkspirational challenge – I am sure you will be able to come up with some fabulous cards.  you can always check out the fabulous design time inspiration cards – here

On a personal note:

So….. who won the blog candy – the brand new Altenew Crafty Friends set?  Let me remind you again of what a great set it is

So… who was closest to the real number?  Well, several of you were pretty close after the last clue – but the closest – by a margin of error of 41,849 was…..

drum roll, please…..

And here's the extract showing the number of family trees my great-great-great-grandmother's name appears in.   I do so hope that they are counting multiple women with her name… Otherwise, I have far more cousins than I could ever have to a Thanksgiving dinner 🙂

Now…. if you are disappointed that you didn't win blog candy…. worry not… I will be back with another chance on Sunday – along with my Paper Players card.  Oh… and it will be another "guess this" piece of fun.

I'll be back tomorrow with another coloring piece for you – and anwers to questions you have asked me about coloring.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs
Jaydee

  1. Congratulations to Jeanne H. on being the lucky winner.
Thanks Jaydee; the guessing was fun.
    Cute card by the way

  2. Love the card. So easy to make a masculine card with some patterned paper and a simple alphabet die – so why didn’t “I” think of that. Thanks for the inspiration.
    Congrats to Jeanne.

  3. It’s me! Oh wow. I’ll love the Altenew set especially since it comes from you Jaydee. Thank You! Also, thanks to the kind comments from all you other crafters.

  4. What a fun card! I’m a dog person so this paper you used completely makes me smile. 🙂 That bold hello-die cut is a stunner too and I love the brown colors and glitter pen. Thanks for joining us at Inkspirational!
