Poppin Birthday for Sunday Stamps 365

Happy Wednesday.

I have a quick post for you today as I am playing along with the new sketch across at Sunday Stamps.  It's all about concentrating elements in the corner.  I created this card based on our recent trip to British Columbia with family members.  The Air BnB that we rented had a movie theatre and on most nights after dinner, we would end up there on the reclining seats with popcorn to watch something!  Fun nemories.  As one of the family members has a birthday in a couple of months, I made a card to help remind them of that time!  It all started with a stamp around Popcorn!  Here's a sneak peek:

And here's the sketch from Sunday Stamps – it's all about the corner!

I began by creating  a background for my focal point layer.  I ran a piece of white cardstock through my Gina K Intricut (favorite cutting machine ever!) with a Concord & 9th embossing folder.  I then needed something for the corner and used a piece of Stampin' Up DSP from the Rock & Roll pack from a couple of years ago.   I cut that on the diagonal  and applied it to the focal layer.

Next it was all about the elements.  Generally I NEVER buy dies on Amazon, but this set popped up and I couldn't believe all the wonderful little movie elements.  I looked around and couldn't find something that matched  all those elements from a US based company, so popped it (if you will excuse the pun) into my basket.

I die cut the elements and built them.  The fun piece was the film roll.  I die-cut it and then added some vellum behind it.  I die-cut the clapboard from both black and white cardstock and then paper pieced the two together.   I found a sentiment set from scrapbook.com that was all about Popcorn so used that for the sentiment.

I built out the elements and then laid them onto the focal layer.  I popped up that layer with a couple of sheets of cardstock behind and the card was complete.

Here's my full card:

Isn't that fun?   I must tell you that the person this card is going to was the first person to make popcorn on the first night we arrived at the BnB.  Man… there was so much salt on that popcorn that it was like eating dried sea-salt.  But there was also a lot of butter, so the whole thing managed to get eaten quite quickly.  Although… we did drink a lot of water after:-)

I'll be back tomorrow with another card.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee
