Enchanted Garden Wreath for Paper Players #296

Hi Everyone.

It's the fabulous Laurie's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a great sketch for us:

 
I made a shaker card for this challenge- and then changed my mind.  Even whilst I was making the shaker card, I had this idea about making a wreath using my new (but seems to be favorite) stamp set – Enchanted Garden. 
 
I'm useless at drawing straight lines – or keeping things in circles… so, I took my circle sizzix die and placed it in where I wanted my wreath to be, and circled the inner part with pencil – very lightly.   This gave me a great guide for my flowers.    My Misti came in useful for this, too as there were a couple of times that I had to overstamp one of the images to get the stamping right.
 
Once I had stamped the flowers, I colored them with Copic markers to add more depth.  I also used a white Uniball gel pen to add some highlights.    I needed to get the image in the lower right corner of the circle to match the sketch…. and decided that I would pop up one of the flowers.  Then…. well… I decided I needed to pop all three of the yellow flowers up!

The final touch for the flowers was to add some Irresistibles White to the centers.  I love the extra dimension it gives and the smooth tactile finish.   In the end, I was very pleased with my card 🙂

On a personal note:

Yesterday was in the low 80s with 40% humidity.  In other words – PERFECT WEATHER.   I sat outside in our screened in porch yesterday morning and just couldn't drag myself away from just watching the birds and animals going about their day.  Looking into – what is now – a lush, green woodland; feeling the breeze gently blowing through the screened-in porch, and just being in the moment (well…a VERY long moment!) was what I needed at the end of a tough work-week.   I kept saying that I needed to go in and make some cards, but I just wanted to savor the feeling of just relaxing and communing with nature.  I did eventually tear myself away and go into my craft room… but I think I must have been about there for a good 90 minutes!

I'm going to leave you with a photo that I took whilst sitting on the deck on Friday night.   Sometimes the birds just move faster than my camera shutter… and this is what you end up with.   Anyone guess what the bird is? 🙂

  6. Your wreath is so bright and sunshiney!! Oh it if was a tad bigger would brighten my front door here on the foggy coast. Couldn’t begin to guess what variety of bird it is but that photo did make giggle! Mission accomplished.

  7. The more I look at your bird photo the more I’m thinking it’s a Black-and-White Warbler but the tail looks to short but then the photo can play tricks on these old eyes.

  9. A beautiful card! I love the bright colors and the dimension with the die cuts.
    I’m not sure about the bird, but it looks like the north end of a sparrow heading south! 🙂

  10. Love this wreath you created…I almost did one too but yours is much better! The vibrancy of the colors is amazing! The bird….maybe a nuthatch? I usually look at the front end but you’re right…they’re quick little buggers!
