Dream Big for Paper Players #264

Hi Everyone.  Happy Sunday.

It's the fabulous Claire's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a great sketch for us:

As we were away when my August Simon Says Stamp card kit arrived, I decided it was a great time to open it up and check it out.   I saw a piece of the DSP that came with the kit that said "Dream Big" and realized that it would be perfect for the challenge.

I cut out a piece of the DSP, ensuring that the "Dream Big" was kept in tact and designed the rest of the card around those colors.  I mixed the DSP with some SU Mint Macron card stock and DSP.  I then punched out an Itty Bitty butterfly from the SSS DSP and topped it with a piece of polka dot embossed vellum.  To create the body and the antenna of the butterfly, I used some silver thread wrapped around the butterfly.

Here's my card:

Dream Big

I added a touch of Watermelon Wonder at the bottom of the Mint Macron script DSP as it matched some of the colors in the SSS Dream Big Dsp.

I hope that you will join us this week and play along.  The design team have created some fabulous cards as inspiration for you.

On a personal note:

Today I finally managed to get a few hours in my craft room and it took me AGES to get back into crafting.   I cannot believe how long it took me to make just a single card.  You would think that after a few weeks away from it, I would be fresh and filled with creativity.  Sadly, that wasn't the case.  I turned on wqxr.org and listened to some classical music and slowly… really slowly… my creative juices started to trickle.   Slowly.. but surely I got into the groove.
I'm hoping to spend a little more time getting into the groove tomorrow, however, I also have to change out the Spring/Summer curtains and cushions for the Fall/Winter ones.  The mercury shell ornaments need to be changed out for the mercury pumpkins.   I'm certainly not ready for Fall, but she has arrived and I just have to deal with it 🙂

I'll be back tomorrow night with some more 2015 card drive inspiration cards for you.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight

Hugs
Jaydee

  1. Stunning card, Jaydee. That focal panel is perfect and I love how well it works with Mint Macaron. I have hardly touched this kit at all so I thank you for the inspiration. You’d be shocked how long it takes me to make a card, too. Too many options, perhaps! Have an awesome day 🙂

I love the way you used the pastel tones for the background layers – it really makes the sentiment stand out – and that little strip of Watermelon Wonder adds a real ‘pop’.
