No Bones About it for Paper Players # 257

Hi Everyone.  Happy Sunday.

It's the fabulous Claire's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a color challenge for us:

When I saw this color combo I immediately thought of a masculine type card and, as I needed some boy cards for the 2015 Cards for a Cause card drive, I decided this was the perfect color choices.

However, I had to find a stamp set that would work.   Mmmm…. I had to have a long hard think about what set I would use – especially as I don't have that many boy type sets.   Then I remembered I had a set that I had purchased from the 2015 SU catalog called No Bones About It.

I decided to have some fun with the colors and a gel roller pen.   Here's my card:

No Bones about it

For the background trees I used a new stamp from Tim Holtz and for the base I used a retired Stampin' Up! stamp called Wonderfully Worn.   I used my gel roller pen to highlight the bones on each of the dinosaurs for a little added interest.

I stamped the bones of the Crumb Cake dinosaur in Bermuda Bay and vice versa.  I'm looking forward to using this set again for more cards for the card drive.

The Players have created some fabulous cards for your inspiration, so I hope you will check them out and then come back and play with us.

On a personal note:

OK.   I need you all to cover your ears 'cos I'm about to scream.  NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!   It can't be!!!!  NOOOOOOOOO!!!   The leaves are starting to turn on some of the trees; the grasses in the wetland are starting to turn brown.   It's only the first week in August and I. AM. NOT. READY. FOR. FALL!!!!!  Do you think that if I shout loud enough, and stamp my foot enough, it's going to turn back time and make summer last just a little longer.  Seriously, I am so not ready for fall… cos that means 5-6 months of cold weather and no color and this year, I am just not ready!  OK.  Rant over!  I think you all got the point 🙂

I do have a couple of photos to share with you tonight:

How about these gorgeous little things?  We have seen so few of them this year.

Mommyandbabies (1 of 1)

Aren't they adorable?   She is such a good mommy and has kept them hidden and out of sight – and safe – and only now that they are bigger has she brought them to feed.

Lou and I were talking about Charlie and wondering how long he had been with us.  Thanks to my blog, we determined that he has been with us for 5 years and a couple of days!  It's hard to believe that he has been a part of our household for that long and he still plays like a kitten.  He really is my constant companion and is rarely far from me.  When I am crafting he is usually curled up on his climber – just like this:

Charliecat (1 of 1)

He runs up and down the climber like a monkey enticing me to play "catch the tail" and he will do that for as long as I am prepared to take a break from crafting.   "His" climber is between my crafting desk and my big shot area, so he gets to swipe at me everytime I go past him to use my big shot – especially if I go past and ignore him.

It's so hard to believe that someone could have hurt such an incredibly intelligent and loyal little cat.  It was a lucky day for all of us when Lou rode out into the country on his bicycle and found him by the side of the road.

Well, I'll be back tomorrow with another card.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs
Jaydee

  1. I’ll continue the rant in solidarity with you. NOOOOOO! I’m NOT ready this year either. Each year I get really cranky when I see the goldenrod blooming, ’cause that means…

  2. I love your card! The little dinosaurs are awesome, perfect with the colors this week. Love seeing the pictures of the deer in your backyard. We’ve seen a few this year too!

  3. Great card Jaydee – I love the trees behind the dinos and the glitter – even boys like a touch of sparkle! Such fun. Love the wildlife pictures too – the deer are gorgeous, you are so lucky to live in such beautiful surroundings.

  4. Jaydee, this is SOOOO fun! The dinosaurs look amazing in these colors! This card is perfect for any little boy! (and some girls, too) LOL! I love how you made my colors shine this week! THANK YOU!!!
That deer family warmed my heart! I saw two babies this week. I get teary eyed every time I see one. They are so precious! Enjoy the warmer days while you can! XXX

  5. Ooh-la-la, I love the glittery dino bones! Never would have thought of that!
I am a little like you for the opposite reason! Here in N. Calif our hot weather started showing up in February. And my cold-weather loving daughter and I were screaming, “No, we didn’t even get one cold, frosty day! We’re not ready for endless sun and heat yet!”

  6. This is so cute! Clever way to use this set as well as the colors! Love your nature pictures, although I would have to agree that it is too soon for fall!!

  7. Thank you , again, for sharing your cards and beautiful nature picture.
Here in Southeastern Alabama the heat index is still in the 102-106 degrees. But just a nice cool breeze would feel good. I’m also happy Charlie is doing well as your other furr-babies.
Hello to Lou. Haven’t seen anything from Rach recently..she is in my prayers.

  8. LOVE this Jaydee! These colors are perfect for the dinos and I love your collection of images with the trees and worn background. You’re making me think twice about this stamp set–it really is a good one and I am pining your card!!

  9. What a completely creative fun way to use this color challenge Jaydee! Love it! And hang on to summer! Though fall will provide beautiful creative colors for us to craft with!

  10. These colors are great for a boy card, and your choice of the dinosaur stamps was perfect. Love the addition of a bit of sparkle, and the background trees. Charlie is just adorable, and he clearly loves his kitty condo! It’s so nice to have a furry little stamping buddy. Have a great day, Jaydee!
