Happy Friday.
I saw a fabulous theme across at TGIF this week and was inspired to break out a new set to me called Birthday Bliss from Spellbinders. It's normally not a set I would have bought, but it came in the crafty box from Jennifer McGuire and I decided it was a fun set.
I was inspired by the colors from the inspiration photo at TGIF and the idea of a summer with a light wind, flying a kite and having some good old fashioned kid fun!

I began by using a stencil set that came with my crafty box. It's called Mini Cloud Edges and is made by My Favorite Things. I created the cloudy sky and a little bit of a green hill at the bottom of my focal layer. I then used an MFT die called Watercolor Wash Freeform to create an edge that reminded me of the greenery around the gate.
I then die-cut and colored all of the images using the colors in the inspiration photo as a guide. I used browns, blues, greens, oranges and yellow. I then adhered the die cut layer to my card base and popped up the elements with foam squares. I added a sentiment from another set that came in my crafty box. This one is called Speech Bubble Sentiments and is made by Spellbinders.

Isn't this little sloth floating away against a summer sky just the cutest thing? Seriously, I don't normally do cute – and that's the reason I would never have purchased this set – but, it goes to show that you should get out of your comfort zone (in my case florals!) and do something different :-). I sure enjoyed creating this card.
