Happy Sunday. It's my turn to host the Paper Players challenge this week and it's a clean and simple challenge – with a twist.
Firstly, let's talk about Nance's awesome challenge badge! Nothing screams masculine like a circus strong man. This badge really made me giggle.
I was at Michaels collecting paint supplies this past week and found some Project Life kits on sale at 40% off. This kit had some elements that I decided would work well on cards, so I put it into my basket. When I was looking for things to use on my card this week, I knew that they would work well.
One of the elements was a piece of watercolor paper that had stars cut out of it. I knew it would make a great stencil and I paired it with one of the other watercolor elements that had "happy" cut out of it. I pulled out my Papertrey Ink "birthday" die and ran it through my big shot with some suede-like paper. All that was left to do? Add some color- masculine colors, of course 🙂

Of course, I had to use my Lil Inker rectangle dies. I seemed to be obsessed with them, but, they really do help to frame a card 🙂

On a personal note:
As I type this blog post, a cold wind is rustling through the trees. The difference now – from a week or so ago, is that the leaves sound brittle and a few of them are letting go of their connection to their host and falling to the ground. Some of the trees have really started to turn to their warm, autumnal colors, whilst others continue – like me – to try to hold on to summer!
Our garden has gone to seed – literally – and that's a really good thing. So many of the birds are to be seen feeding off the coneflowers and grasses. It doesn't look pretty – but it sure helps out the wildlife. Considering that was the whole reason we did this, I'd call it a success!
In spring (yes, I am looking ahead to spring even though it is SEVEN MONTHS away!!!!!) we will need to burn the prairie and Prairie Restoration will be coming in to do that. That's the plan, but the weather may change that. In 2013 we couldn't burn because it was waaay too dry and the county wasn't handing out burn permits. 2014 we couldn't burn because it was waaaaay too wet! So, maybe 2015 will be a Goldilocks year – and it will be just right to burn.
We have managed to spend a little time in our screened in porch this week as Sam continues to nag until I open the door and let them out. Last night we sat out in a rain storm. It was glorious to be able to sit under the deck and have the rain fall all around us. It was gorgeous!
I'll be back tomorrow with an Ornamental Pine card – just in case you are getting withdrawal symptoms.

What a fun and definitely masculine card–nary a bow or ribbon in sight. ;oP
My flowers are all going to seed as well, and I’ll see the finches and squirrels on the sunflowers in particular, although, the birds are also on the zinnias. The hummers have fled the area and the feeders are down and washed for putting back out next year.
:sigh: I miss my summer birdies…

I love the dies you used, the PT Birthday, and of course the LI stitched rectangles. I feel the same way, I am always reaching for them! Love how you used them for your card!

Nice to be back among the living as we have been without internet service since Sunday, 21st.
Needless to say; it’s been a Looooooong few days not being able to get on the computer. The tech came out this morning and fixed us all up and running again.
