It's the fabulous Sandy's turn to host our challenge this week and she has a great one for us:-)
I had seen a sketch across at retrosketches and thought I would use that as I had an idea for a shaker card and the Ray of Sunshine stamp set. Now, I have to tell you that I made this card 6 different times. Everytime I did something wrong on it: a finger mark in the white space; ink splotches in the white space; one of the rays was skew….. and everytime I had to redo the card. By the time I had finished, it was dark outside and I wasn't able to take a photograph.
If that wasn't enough :-) by the time I was ready to post the photograph I realized I had missed a key element of the sketch…… the fish tail! I sure as heck wasn't going to remake it :-) Anyway, I was happy with the card in the end and I hope you enjoy it, too.
The shaker elements are from the In Color Sequin Assortments from the new 2014/2015 SU catalog. I inserted gold hearts, stars and normal sequins. They are perfect for shaker cards! :-) For my monochromatic look I used Crushed Curry and Tangelo Twist inks on a Whisper White and Tangelo Twist base. Although the button isn't a perfect match with Tangelo Twist, it continues the monochromatic theme. The sentiment is also inked in Tangelo Twist.

On a personal note:
I promised to share a couple of photographs of what is happening in our back yard 🙂
The blackeyed susan's are coming up at the side of the garden. They are not as profuse as they were last year, but are still looking bright and cheerful. It's also wonderful to see the grasses and other flowers coming up amongst them this year.
The bright coneflowers are really coming into their own this year. They really are such a beautiful color and their monochromatic color scheme matches the Paper Players challenge this week 🙂
Outside our screened in porch, we have an even greater variety of flowers coming in this year. The mix of white, yellow and purple makes me happy 🙂
I'm sorry about the quality of the next photo, but I had to take it through the window and there was a lot of glare. We VERY rarely see the Red Headed Woodpecker. We saw him once last year and he stayed around for a couple of hours. This year he popped into the backyard and has stayed a couple of days.
I loved this shot…… they were all watching each other 🙂
On that note, I hope you all have a truly wonderful Sunday. As for me? I'm hoping to get to spend a little time in my stamping space and, if I do, I will have some cards to share with you this week.

So sorry to hear how frustrating you card making experience was! I love the end result, though, and I’m a big fan of shaker cards these days, too! I love your nature shots, too. I can feel the serenity. You needed it after making your card!

Oh, those coneflowers! I love the variety of hues, and they are set off so well with the various greys of the rocks behind them. Nature at its best. Thanks, as always, for sharing your beauteous bounty.

Oh Jaydee, I can so relate to the problems you had making this card. Ink smears frustrate me so much! I absolutely LOVE your card. I am a huge sun fan and this shaker card is so amazing! I also love your backyard photos. How beautiful to sit out and look at all those gorgeous flowers and birds! XX
