Sneak Peek: Word Bubbles for Paper Players #175

Hi Everyone.  Happy Sunday.  Hope you are all having a great weekend.

The fabulous Anne Marie has a great color challenge for us at the Paper Players this week.  This color scheme is so typical of AM, bright and cheerful and….. pink :-)  I love AM's challenge, because she invariably chooses colors I rarely use, and that's what makes them such a great challenge.  They force me out of my comfort zone, and I always find that I've enjoyed playing with the colors.

Old Olive hardly ever sees the light of day these days in my crafting room and I'd forgotten what a pretty color Raspberry Ripple is.  Pink Pirouette is the one pink that I was so pleased to see make a return to the permanent SU colors.

I decided to pair a brand new set that I ordered from the Occasions 2014 catalog.  I'd been eyeing a contraband set, so was thrilled when I noticed the stamp set, and matching framelits in the occasions catalog.  I've had such fun playing with this combo today.

For my card, I decided to pair the Word Bubbles with Gorgeous Grunge.  I really wanted to pair down the Raspberry Ripple and Old Olive, and Gorgeous Grunge is a great way to do that.

Here's my card:

Word Bubbles

I really love the pairing of the word bubble and Gorgeous Grunge.  Now, a word bubble needs dots… it just does… I don't know why I can't see them stand alone, but I always want to put dots underneath it.  I decided that the Subtles Candy Dots would do perfectly – and they are really easy to adhere.  I also like that they compliment the stamping from the Gorgeous Grunge, but that they don't overpower it.

Of course, I had to carry the theme from the outside to the inside.

Word Bubbles Inside

Instead of Whisper White, I decided to pair this color scheme with Very Vanilla.  It's a little softer with the colors and I preferred it.

I popped the Gorgeous Grunge Vanilla layer up from the Raspberry Ripple base and then popped the Pink Pirouette Word Bubble up as well.  I stamped the sentiment with Raspberry Ripple and then added some clear embossing powder to give it just a little bit of shine.  Overall, I was very pleased with how it turned out.

The design team have some wonderful cards as inspiration for you.  Don't forget to pop along to their blogs – and then pop back to the Paper Players and join in the fun.

If you like the look of my Word Bubble card, don't forget to stop by over the next couple of days, as I will have more cards and more sneak peeks to share with you.  I REALLY love the goodies in the new Occasions catalog.  I found so much mojo with my pre-order and it was all because I loved the goodies that I received.  The colors are crisp and clean and the DSP fun.  The stamps are on trend and I love some of the new embellishments.  I really can't wait to share the sneak peeks with you.

Now, I'm off to cook dinner.  Lou…. well, he is sitting in front of the TV gloating as Australia annihilates England at the Ashes test matches in Australia.  Mind you, he wasn't quite as keen to watch the cricket during the actual Ashes test earlier this year when England kicked some good old Aussie you-know-what! 🙂

I'll be back tomorrow with another card.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee
