Happy Sunday
Oh… I know you are feeling a little touch of de ja vu! Because you saw this same set used on a card for Freshly Made that appeared on my blog yesterday! Today's card is for the fabulous sketch created by our wonderful Claire.
Well, another day, another challenge – and the same colors :-). I just love this image from Floral Friendship and don't seem to be able to quite get enough of it! Today's card is another clean and simple use of this great set. Here's a sneak peek:
For today's card I used both the stamps and the dies. I stamped the image and then colored it lightly with vintage inspired watercolor paints. I die-cut a strip of paper using some border dies and used that as a mask. I positioned the two pieces on my card base and then used some waterfall ink from Pinkfresh Studio to create the background.
Before I added the focal image and the sentiment, I used some metallic watercolor paints to add some splatters.
All that was left to do was to add the sentiment and the focal image. Here's my card:
We would love to see what YOU create with Claire's fabulous sketch. As always, the design team have some wonderful inspiration for you:
On a personal note:
Well, we have furniture for the deck – but, unfortunately it has been covered up all week as it has been rainy, windy and cold! Today the sun is shining, but there is still a cold breeze. However, we can see the start of spring as little green shoots are starting to appear! So, we might get to use the furniture sometime!
We have a planter box near the front door and have decided that we will be planting herbs there. It gets lots of sunlight and the idea of going out and picking my own coriander (more commonly known as cilantro here in the US), chives, basil, rosemary, dill and sage. Some of my favorite herbs – and smells! We will be planting those at the end of May along with some flowers in our front garden.
One of the things we have to tackle in the house is the color of the ceiling. We have no idea why, but the previous owners painted it a strange sort of warm yellowy cream. Which is odd as the rest of the walls are a cool grey. It looks really odd – and even odder with the white painted fireplace and our mid-century furniture! I tried to capture a photo showing you how it looks. It reminds me of the color of cream from the old milk bottles that used to get delivered when I was a kid. We weren't the only ones who enjoyed the cream off the top of the milk, the tits used to sit on the edge of the bottles and peck the foil lid of the bottle and drink the cream!
Not my photo – I borrowed it from a birding site in the UK – and you can read out the robins and blue tits and how they adapt to be able to digest the rich milk.
Now… where was I? Oh yeah, the color of our ceiling! Here's that photo where you can see the yellow/cream ceiling
And here's a photo – which is very distorted – but really gives you a better idea of how big the ceiling is – and how yellow it really looks
With the cool grey walls and white fireplace, it really does look yellow. Now, we just have to decide whether it goes to white, or whether it goes darker?!
And, just because I don't think there are quite enough photos on this post 🙂 I will finish up with a photo of Chilli just chillin' on the carpet in the sun room! I mean, who doesn't want to see a photo of a 20 pound Maine Coon kitten just lounging around:-)
I'll be back later in the week with a card. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight
Hugs
Jaydee

Your card is absolutely stunning, Jaydee! I am so proud to say it is currently gracing my mantle. I always cherish the cards I receive from you. I love the background you created. I am going to have to try this technique. The watercoloring is soft and exquisite. LOVE it! I can’t wait to see the ceiling color you choose. I went darker (actually a barn red) on our back porch and love it. I also went with a darker hue of sage green in our bedroom (which does not have high ceilings) and I love the serene vibe. With such lovely soaring ceilings, I don’t think you can go wrong whatever you choose. Chilli is looking quite content with his handsome self! Have a wonderful week!
I love the simplicity of your card. And absolutely love your Chilli. Hugs to you.
What a delightful card, Jaydee! You were very inventive to create that curved, ink blended line on the card base, and of course the flowers are delicate and beautiful. Lucky Ann!
I’m sure your design sense will make the perfect decision, but personally I think a dark color would work wonderfully with those high ceilings. And thank you for sharing your pics of Chilli, who wouldn’t want to see that handsome guy?
The simplicity of this card really makes for something quite beautiful Jaydee – those simple stems against the slight wave of the vertical element (it was seeing your card that made me go slightly off-piste with this element too) and the delicate splatter is just stunning. Loving the photos too – the blue tit especially made me smile 🙂 I have one nesting in one of my birdboxes with a live feed – currently sitting on 3-4 eggs. So fascinating to watch – I may spend more time than is strictly sensible enjoying this pasttime lol!
This is a gorgeous take on a gorgeous sketch. I love that twirl of blue – so elegant. The blooms are so soft and dreamy but it’s the splatter which is the masterstroke of genius. Fantastic card! Good luck with your colour choices for the ceiling. 🙂
Such a sweet ethereal feeling you’ve created on your card! Very pretty! The stenciling in the background is a lovely touch! And I agree with your thoughts on the ceiling…an odd choice but I know you’ll figure it out, you have such a great sense of style!
Jaydee, you always amaze me with your creations! This is gorgeous! The swirl of blue is a fabulous way to use the sketch! Your are definitely the Queen of CAS.
I love your beautiful home! It looks so comfy and open. I can’t wait to see how you paint the ceiling! I agree, it does look like a yellow tone. Have fun!
