Hi Everyone. Happy Wednesday
I had great fun working with two challenges this week: casonsunday which is a color challenge of black and white + one, and the inspiration challenge across at runway. Here's the inspiration dress
I knew that I needed to use my Epic Day washi tape. I mean… it was a given considering the graffiti and graphic nature of the inspiration photo. The red looked like Calypso Coral would fit perfect for the color challenge and it was perfect to combine the cleanandsimple on Sunday challenge with this.
Happy Day is a new set from the 2013-2014 calendar and takes me completely out of my comfort zone.
I even used an old technique called rock and roll. Remember that anyone… The stamping technique, not the music style :-)
Let's look at my card
I used Washi tape for the vertical and horizontal elements and then inked up the focal point stamp in Calypso Coral ink and "rolled" it in Basic Gray. That gives me the feeling of black on the edges. I then hand fussy cut the focal image and used it to trace a Calypso Coral and Basic Black layer. I then fussy cut both of those to layer behind the focal image.
I layered them using Stampin Dimensionals and stamped the sentiment in Basic Black. I adhered that to the focal point and left the left hand side end without anything underneath it. It's such a small overlap that I didn't think it needed anything.
All that was left was to add a couple of basic rhinestones and pearls to finish it off. Although this card is outside of my comfort zone, I really enjoyed creating it and hope you can see the inspiration from the dress.
It's very late here – 10.30 almost, so I will keep my post very brief tonight. It's been a very long, very exhausting and very emotional day. So, I am off to have a bath and try to switch off!
As always thank you for visiting my little area of the stamping blogosphere. I'll be back with another card tomorrow.
Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight. I know there are many of you.
Hugs
Jaydee

As usual you did a wonderful job creating your card. I’m in love with the Epic Day Washi Tape. I just got the Gingham Garden tape. Have you worked on your This and That Journal? Sorry to hear you had an emotional day. My thoughts and prayers are with.
What a super job you did of bringing the inspiration to life on your card. I could practically see it walking down the runway, and I love it. There’s something about those pearls that really appeals to me.
Hope things are OK with you and tomorrow will be easier.
I hope today is a better day!
Your card is fantastic. Love your use of color and design.
I loved everything about this card! I’ll keep you in my prayers for a better week and for the peace that surpasses all understanding. Hope I got that quote right! Take good care of yourself!
gorgeous! perfect interpretation of the challenge 🙂 thanks for playing RIC
Oh look, yet ANOTHER card I missed in the chaos that was last week. Sheesh! I’m sorry. You must have thought I dropped off the face of the planet or something. Oy.
I’m SO delighted they added Calypso Coral to the line-up–I was dreading saying goodbye. It’s fabulous wit the Basic Gray and black–colors I don’t think I would have paired it with. This is why I love color challenges. :o)
The rock and rolled image is fabulous, and the bling! I’m LOVING the bling!
Hugs!
Beautiful rock and roll for the medallion! The red center looks amazing <3 Thanks for joining us on the Runway this week!
WOW! Such a pretty card! 🙂 Thanks for playing with us at CAS on Sunday!
