Hi Everyone. Happy Wednesday.
Thanks to all of you who left me a comment on yesterday's post. I really do appreciate your opinions as to which version of the card worked best for you!
I have another sneak peek for you tonight. I ordered some of Gingham Garden DSP as part of my pre-order and made two cards with it.
As part of the onlinecardclass "his and hers", we have been challenged to make a masculine and a feminine version of a card with the same theme. The classroom card was "thinking of you", but I decided to do a "thank you for your support". I'd seen this image on one of the stamps from the "For the Birds" set and decided I really wanted to use it. I used a sketch from one of the cards in the classroom for my inspiration.
Of course, once I had stamped the image, I couldn't resist adding a little bling to the feminine version of the card. So I pulled out my Dazzling Details (clear and red) and put them to good use!
Isn't that paper gorgeous? I absolutely love it. I thought it was perfect with the focal image, too. You might be wondering what that yellow gingham stuff is? Well, it's washi tape that goes with the Gingham Garden set :-) I put it over a piece of Island Indigo and think it looks very pretty. It was much too bright putting over a white banner and the Island Indigo banner on it's own drew too much attention away from the focal image. I think adding it over the Indigo was the perfect compromise.
I added the clear Dazzling Details over the wings and the tail and the red over the little heart in the mouth of the bird at the top. Once I had completed the card I asked Lou if he thought I could use this image for a masculine card. He looked at me and said…. nah… it's too cute! OK. Back to the drawing board then!
Now….. on the back of the flowered sheet of DSP is a green sheet…. ah. ha… I used that as the base of my masculine card. Check out the two sides of the DSP.
I built my masculine card around the Pear Pizzazz color and kept the same layout as the feminine card. However, Jennifer/Kristina had recommended using text backgrounds and vintage images for masculine cards. I immediately went to MDS and printed out the hot air balloon from the Adventure Awaits download. I also printed a text background (that I made into a tag) from another set. I colored the text with River Rock and Pear Pizzazz in MDS before sizing it and printing it out. I needed a "thanks for your support" for my masculine card and used MDS to create the sentiment. Thank goodness for MDS!!! Once I printed out the text background, I realized that the Very Vanilla was just a little too bright. I got my sponge and some Crumb Cake ink and fixed that!
Here's my masculine version of the "thanks for your support card". Same layout, same DSP (just the other side) and the same sentiment.
I'm really having fun on this class. Looking at a card and trying to determine and masculine and feminine version of the same card really forces me to think.
What do you think of the new DSP? I really like the fact that there are two totally different patterns on each side of this particular piece and the flower side is just the right scale for a card. I can't wait to use some of the other pieces.
On a personal note
For something entirely different… it snowed today and we are expecting more snow tonight. It's also down in the 40s, where it is going to be for the next several days. ENOUGH! I officially declare winter over! 🙂
I have a photo to share with you tonight. Bailey was down in my crafting space with me yesterday and found the catnip mouse.
This cat is one big hairball! He's also 18 pounds of gorgeousness. He might be 7 years old, but he's still a kitten at heart. He's a very loving cat, but not a cuddly cat. He also has an incredibly loud purr! Oh, yeah! He loves catnip!!!
As always, thank you for visiting my little part of the stamping blogsphere. I'll be back tomorrow with more masculine and feminine cards.
Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight
Hugs
Jaydee

I love the picture of Bailey! He is sooo gorgeous. We are having a snow day today-7 inches and it is still falling hard. Miss you!
Beautiful cards and papers. Done the papers justus in making of your cards
Bailey is one adorable cat and what a furball he is.
Had upper 80 deg. temperatures yesterday and now this morning it’s in the low 40’s with chance of possible freeze tomorrow evening. :{ Crazy weather. Not to be like this at this time of year in Texas.
That DSP is so sweet! I *think* I got it…I HOPE I got it! My box arrives TODAY!! :o)
That first card is so very sweet and cute, and alas, not very masculine, huh? ;o) The second, though, that’s a wonderfully masculine card. :o) I think it’s amazing how that masculine-ish paper is the backside of that cutie pie paper. They did that well.
What a gorgeous ball of fur your Bailey is! I love that photo! :o)
Hugs!
P.S. Hi Lou! :o)
Great cards and what a difference a few changes make! I am trying to catch up on the posts-but I did like the card with glitter only on your previous post.
Love the Bailey picture too!
Hi Jaydee~ I love your cards & I love the dsp glad I bought it to make a birthday card with it this weekend. I adore your cat! He reminds me so much of my cat Shamus, a big hairball but so cute! I really look forward to your posts each night, thanks for sharing.
