Sent with Love for Case this Sketch

Hi Everyone.

Happy Tuesday.  Hope you are having a great week so far!

Another one of the challenges I created a card for this week is Cas(e)thissketch.   Here's the sketch…. sadly, I missed the deadline!!! I hadn't realized it closed today!  its a great sketch, anyway!

It's a cool sketch!   Some of you may remember me saying that I had attended one of Jennifer McGuire's onlinecardclasses called Pattern Play.   The class is all about using up your patterned DSP and combining them.   That's really something I have difficulty with, so am trying to take the team's advice and play with some patterned paper. 🙂

When I looked at this sketch, I realized this was an opportunity to put playing with patterns into action.   I pulled out the Sent with Love DSP and paired the Pool Party with the Calypso Coral.  It's really such a gorgeous pairing for spring.   I paired it with the sentiment from the Sent with Love stamp set and some Calypso Coral baker's twine.

Here's what I came up with:

Casethis (1 of 1)
I used a gelly roller to add a little bling to the dots on the heart and sentiment.  I know it's a little difficult to see in the pic, but it really does add that little bit of something when you see it in real life.

I'm loving this spotted chevron embossing folder.  In fact, if I use it any more in the next week or so, I might need an intervention!

What I love about this particular card:

  • That the chevron embossing folder echoes the chevron DSP behind the focal image
  • That the dots on the chevron embossing folder echo the dots in the DSP at the bottom of the focal image, as well as the dots in the heart
  • That the chevron in the embossing folder echoes the sentiment.
  • That I got to utilize three different DSPs from the same set on the same card!
  • Oh.. yeah.. and the color scheme!
  • All the while, it's still clean and simple as it has lots of "white" space and very little in terms of embellishment

So, what do you think?   Why not pop along to the casethissketch site and check out the fabulous design team and submission cards, and play along, too!  I know I had fun with it.  I really love doing challenges as they do push me to do things that I wouldn't normally do.

On a personal note:

Still snow on the ground and it has been cool today.  The red shouldered blackbirds are still here and I love the shrill sound of their call as they come in to feed.  This weekend we will be cleaning out bird houses and putting out cat hair for the bird's to add to their nests.  With Norwegian Forest Cats, hair is in abundance and we might as well put it to good use, right?

I'll be back tomorrow with another card.  In the meantime, thank you for visiting and warm hugs and prayers to those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. I am really enjoying the cards with the embossing foler. Unfortunately, the only store here that carries those is the big M so we are unlikely to get it – boo hoo. I was quite intrigued to hear that you put out cat hair for the birds to use – do you think birds would use fluff from dogs? Plenty of that here!
Anyways, love your card, and the different dsp, really well done. Hope spring gets there eventually – it sure is taking its time this year!

  2. Love your card! The colors are beautiful and a nice clean layout. Has the kitty returned yet?
