Happy Halloween for Dynamic Duos

Hi Everyone.

Happy Monday.  Today is the last day of my vacation and I made the most of it by spending some quality time with my inks and things!

I caught a great color challenge across at Dynamic Duos this week.  Now… I hate Tangerine Tango.  Hate it.  It's way too bright for me.  Other people manage to rock this color – as you can see from the fabulous design team and submission cards.  Me… I don't know, I just don't have the Tangerine Tango mojo!    Now…. having said that…. that's what makes me do these challenges – to challenge myself :-)  The great thing about the DD challenge is that you can add neutrals such as black!

I saw a great halloween witch on a fabulous site that I saw across at LeAnne's site.  The Graphics Fairy shares amazing illustrations from old books.  You really need to check it out.  Here's the direct link to the image that I downloaded.  When you visit the Graphics Fairy site, take a cup of coffee, you will be there a while 🙂

I downloaded the witch and then fussy cut around her so that I could place her on a Tangerine Tango background that I punched out using my large punch.   However, the color was a little flat, so I took my Heat and Stick and some Dazzling Diamonds Glitter and put that all over the circle.  All I needed to do was take the cut out witch and bat and mount them over the circle using dimensionals.  All of this was then added to a label created using Basic Black.

I added a little more tangerine behind the Old Olive layer.  Teeny Tiny Wishes was given some much needed ink with the Happy Halloween Stamp.  I then inked up my Wonderfully Worn background stamp with a little Crumb Cake to add texture to the Old Oliver layer.

Here's my card

I love the rich color that the Tangerine Tango circle took on with the Dazzling Diamonds!  If you haven't played along with the Dynamic Duo challenges before, now might be a good time to start!  Even if you aren't playing along this week, pop along and check out the great cards.

On a personal note:

I really wanted to share a couple of photos that I took last night.  The sunset was amazing and really lit up the late fall colors.

This one was taken looking across the wetland.

A few minutes later, I went to see what was going on at the front of the house.  Especially as the trees at the front are really orange and rust.   What a great sight!

Then, I thought you might like to see how the trees look against our house – all decorated for Halloween!

The sunset was gorgeous… and the sunrise was equally gorgeous this morning.  It's amazing how beautiful the world looks in fall.

As always, thank you for spending time in my little area of the stamping blogosphere.  Your visits and your comments really do mean a great deal to me.   Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Now, I'm off to prep the cards to send to OWH!!!!

Hugs

  1. Even with your dislike for Tangerine Tango, you managed to rock the color challenge! Great Halloween card. Thanks for playing with us at Dynamic Duos!

  2. Glad you found the Graphics Fairy….she is AWESOME! Fun card (love the glitter) and thanks for sharing your awesome natural Halloween decorations, LOL!

  3. Boy, Old Olive and Tangerine Tango make a fabulous Halloween color combo! :o) I LOVE that image of the witch and am thankful you have shared the site. She looks magnificent in front of that blazing orange moon!
Late afternoon light in autumn is so deliciously golden. I LOVE the photos!! We’re still mostly green around these parts so it’s lovely to see such vibrant colors elsewhere. While you’re heading into late fall, we’re still in early fall. Latitude is crazy, no? ;o)
I LOVE that giant spider on your porch, although I think I have a teeny Beanie who would be much traumatized by it. ;o)
I’m sorry your vacay is over, but so glad you had such a nice one.
    Hugs!
P.S. Hello, Lou! Hoping all’s well with you too! :o)

  4. Oh jaycee…those fall colors are stunning! What a gorgeous scene you have to look out on every day. I’m very jealous! Your Halloween card is great! The witch silhouette is simply spook-tacular! Thank you so much for joining us this week at Dynamic Duos! 🙂 Hugs, my friend!
