Hi Everyone.
Happy Saturday. I hope you are all having a great weekend.
I don't have a card for you tonight. I haven't had a chance to get into my stamping room to make any cards this week – and I am late making my Paper Players card, too. I'm hoping to get in and play tomorrow.
I thought I would share a few photos with you this evening.
We started off with a single tree frog. Then there were two. Now there are three. Meet Frick, Frack and Fred.
They are on the window in the great room almost every night. They are also known as the Kamikaze Frogs! They take the most unbelievable leaps. In fact, Lou was on the phone on Friday and decided to take the call on the deck. He was standing against the front of the deck, leaning over, looking at the birds in the bird bath when, suddenly, something came flying past his ear and landed 14 feet below him on the ground. No, it wasn't a bird. It was a frog!!! He must have leapt off the roof, or the siding – but he jumped the entire width of the deck, right past Lou's ear and 14 feet down. He was OK, too! Lou said he got the fright of his life!
The other afternoon I heard the Pileated's making a racket. Now, if any of you have heard them, you will know that they are LOUD. If you haven't been lucky enough to hear one, you can check the sound out on the Cornell site here. I decided to go outside and check what was going on. This is what I was thrilled to see
Isn't that awesome? I watched – and listened – for a few minutes and then was blessed to see this
It was the most amazing sight…….
Now…. the tree frogs normally stay at the back of the house – where the trees are most prevalent – and the toads are at the front of the house. They sit on the driveway close to the street light and the lights on the garage. We were surprised to see this little guy sitting on our front door the other night.
We named him Bill and the toads that sit on the driveway – The Flower Pot Men. You Brits will know what I mean by that 🙂
The weather is still gorgeous. Mind you, it got down into the 40s last night. It's been up at around 80 during the day. Very low humidity (sorry, Rach!), with a slight breeze. Perfect weather. It has, however, felt more like mid-September, than mid-August. We have also noticed that the leaves are starting to turn. Much earlier than we are accustomed to and we think that is probably to do with the fact that we are almost 2 hours further north than we used to be.
As always, thanks for spending time in my little area of the blogosphere. Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Have a beautiful Sunday.
Hugs
Jaydee

Oh my goodness I get so excited when I see one of these woodpeckers. Nature does give lots of wonderful blessings. TFS
Amazing photos Jaydee! If I had your view, I’d never make any cards. lol!! I love to hear your nature stories and they always bring a smile to my heart.
I am so jealous of your woodpeckers. It’s been a few years since I’ve seen one. They are gorgeous. I don’t know the Flowerpot Men but Tony has sung the theme song once or twice for me!
Miss you!
Thanks for sharing your little corner of the world.
Oh, I am sooooo jealous of your pileated family! It became so hot and humid here (Cincinnati area) that my birds have been staying in the woods. I love your new home. It’s been gradually cooling here, so I am hopeful that the birds will be attracted to their suet cages again soon. Nancy B
Now I’m jealous of your lack of humidity AND your wildlife!! :oP
Yes, we have the tree frogs–aren’t they fabulous??–and the toads, but NOT the piliateds! I’m indeed green with envy. :o) How wonderful you’re able to get such amazing photos to share with us! Thank you!
I do have to tell you it only got up to a high of 73 today, and the humidity wasn’t off the charts. And, funnily enough, I began to see signs of autumn in the changing of some leaves. It’s been so dry I’ve been chalking it up to that, but maybe not…maybe autumn really IS on the way. :o)
Hugs!
P.S. Hi Lou! I’m SO glad you weren’t attacked by the frog. Whew! I’m sure it would have given me quite a start as well!
When I see your pictures, my tummy gets all crazy – might be called jealously or envy!! 🙂 I LOVE your stories, Jaydee. As always, thanks for sharing. Still hoping to win the lottery. (I guess I have to play to have a chance, eh?)
Wow! Those are really amazing photos! Thanks, as always, for sharing, Jaydee.
I was at the lake the past four days. I saw that the mountain ash berries are ripening. Did you get any berries on your tree this year?
we have a woodpecker that visits our church parking lot occasionaly. bangs away on the covering on our security light.
