Happy Sunday.
It's the fabulous Joanne's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and has a fun Clean and Simple theme for us.
Now, I'm a clean and simple sort of gal in crafting as well as decor, but even I found it a little difficult creating some interest around a single stamped image, so I had to get really creative to do something in the background! I pulled out one of my favorite florals, Amazing Things from Pinkfresh Studio and used a simple green and pink color scheme. To get some interest in the background, I used a Pinkfresh hotfoil plate, but used it as an embossing plate instead.
Here's a sneak peek:
And here is Joanne's theme:
The card came together really easily. I stamped the image and used the stencils to color it. I created the background with the hotfoil plate and cut it in half. I wanted to use only half of the emb ossed area so as not to overwhelm the floral image. I added a sentiment and the card was complete.
Here's my card:
I hope you will join us and play along with our challenge. We would love to see your take on this challenge. As always, the design team have some fabulous inspiration for you:
On a personal note:
Well, it certainly is – almost – Spring in Minnesota. The weather yesterday was 75 degrees. Yes, that would be 75 degrees. That would make it only 2 degrees lower than it was as a high in Orlando, Florida yesterday! It was absolutely glorious. Today? Yeah, well, in the 40s, snowing and raining 🙂
The sunroom has become the most frequented spot since the weather got a little warmer. Truth is, the cats love it at any time, but in the warmer weather we cannot get them in. Chilli is loving it.
Whether he is draping himself on his hammock bed on the window:
Or showcasing his amazing tail while reclining in a donut that is way too small for him on the cat climber!
He and Smudgie spend most of the day out there watching the rabbits and squirrels – and occasionally our neighborhood black and white cat waltzes past and drives the two of them crazy! We'll be putting up a bird feeder this week, so that should help to keep them entertained 🙂
I'll be back during the week with another card. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee

Jaydee, I had to come give you a personal thank you for choosing my card as your Headliner – am I glad I did it today… your Chilli is AMAZING!! Tail and all!
I’m intrigued by Joanne’s challenge this week… and love your design with the embossed bit using a hot foil plate. It’s the ONLY way I seem to be able to use them as well as this! Gorgeous bloom, beautifully colored!

I’d say you nailed the CAS challenge! Beautifully done with that hint of the EF and those lovely colors on the flower! Of course Chilli is the cat’s meow!
The single image, coloured so beautifully, is fabulous all on its own. However, you are a star at creating background interest in subtle ways. As always, a magnificent project. 🙂
That beautiful floral is stunning in its simplicity Jaydee – just gorgeous! I loved reading your thought process behind the partial embossed background; it was little gems like this that I was hoping to pick up this week. I love CAS as a style, but with a single image my cards sometimes feel a little ‘flat’ so this week I’m looking to see what I can learn from the gallery! Thank you my friend – wishing you more Florida-style warmth than Minnesota snow this week!
Love your card and your cat. He sure is terrific looking. Hugs!
