French Foliage for Retrosketches

Hi Everyone.

Quick post for you tonight.  I saw this great sketch across at retrosketches.  I decided that I wanted to try my hand at making a masculine card and the first set that came to mind was French Foliage… mmm…. I think it works.  :-)  Here's the sketch.

I recently bought the SU wood embossing folder and decided that it would be perfect as the horizontal layer for my card and work well with the leaves.  All that was left then, was to find a color scheme.  Well, that was pretty easy, too!

Here's what I came up with

Retrobirthday

I think the buttons, the colors, the wood embossing folder and the twine lend a masculine feel, or at least I hope it does.  The More Mustard really need a small border of Early Espresso to make it pop and also to tie to the browns used in the focal image and on the buttons.  Aren't these new SU buttons great?

I hope you will pop along to the retrosketches page and check out the fabulous design team and inspiration cards and I know that they would appreciate it if you played along one week!

As always, thank you for visiting my little area of the stamping blogosphere… I know I say this every night… but I REALLY do appreciate your visit and your comments.

Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.  have a fabulous Thursday.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Oh isn’t this wonderful and fall-like. I love to work with fall colors when I’m dying in the sweltering heat of summer. Fall’ll be here before we know it, right? ;o)
The wood embossing folder is a perfect compliment to those beautiful leaves. This is simply wonderful. :o)
    Hugs to you!
    P.S. Hello, Lou! :o)

  2. Jaydee, you are such a good saleswoman! I had thought the wood grain embossing folder would be the first one I would skip and not add to my collection–now hmmmm. 🙂
I really like your CAS translation of the sketch, you’ve worked up a great masculine card that would so easily be made juvenile or feminine with just a few changes. Another one for my case file.
Have a wonderful day One & all.

  3. Thanks for another good idea. I do have that embossing folder! Now I have a new idea for it. Great card.

  4. Jaydee, I love your card! That embossing is the perfect touch! Thanks so much for playing along with this week’s RetroSketch!
