Hi Everyone. Happy Saturday night.
Across at the Paper Players this week, the fabulous Ann has a gorgeous color challenge for us. In fact, I was so inspired by the challenge that I made 3 cards using the same colors today!
Isn't that a yummy color scheme. The gold, vanilla and cherry. Oh, yes, it's a rich and luscious color challenge. I bet you all know what type of card I created? Christmas? I mean, seriously, these are gorgeous Christmas colors, right?
Well…. let's see…. 🙂
Nope…… I really wanted to do something different – even though I was oh….oh…oh… so tempted to create a Christmas card. I decided that these colors also worked beautifully for a love themed card. I also wanted to keep the design really clean and simple.
All I needed was Stampin' Up!'s Valentine Defined, a jelly roll pen, some gorgeous SU metallic card stock and some gold embossing ink.
Stampin' Supplies:
- Card stock: Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla, Metallic Gold Specialty Paper
- Stamps: Valentine Defined
- Inks: Cherry Cobbler, Encore Gold
- Accessories: Basic Pearls (can you see them?), Jelly Roll pen. I stamped the heart flowers and then went over the flower and petals with a jelly roller to give it a little sparkle and glimmer
The Players will be taking a well earned break for a couple of weeks. It has been another amazing year and we thank you all for playing along. We hope that you will play along with us over the next two weeks. Yep, you have two weeks to load up your creations using this wonderful color scheme.
Buzbee Watch
Now… some of you may be wondering what Buzbee has been up to? Well, I have to let you in on a secret. I found him with his hand in the jary. Stealing cookies? Stealing candies? Getting cat treats for Bailey? Nope… He was helping me pull names out of the jar. Why? Well, I was running my 12th day of Christmas and Jaydee gave to me challenge last night……. the winner?
Doris D – who suggested that Buzbee may be visiting the Christmas tree and getting up to mischief soon. Doris, please email me your address so that I can send you your brand new jar of Mica flakes.
Now…. Buzbee has been a very busy boy today. I caught him inside – and outside – the house. He was up to all sorts of mischief. In fact, he was a very buzeee boy! Finally, as I sat at my crafting table, warbling away to the Christmas channel on the radio, I realized that he had been very, very, quiet for a while. I decided to go looking for him – and what did I see?
Poor little thing… he had such a tiring day getting into all sorts of mischief that you suggested yesterday, that I found him, stretched out on a spare bed, fast asleep. I woke him up and he was so pleased to see me… you can see that cos he's smiling! Now, if only I could wake up that chirpy in the morning! Buzbee asked me to thank you all for giving him permission to get up to no good 🙂
So…. on the 11th day of Christmas, what is Jaydee going to give to you? Mmmmm…. Up for grabs tonight –
SILVER GLIMMER PAPER
Yep…. If more than 10 people leave a message on this blog post…. then one lucky blog message leaver will be drawn from the jar by Buzbee. What do you have to do to be in the running to earn yourself one fabulous pack of silver glimmer paper?
Leave me a message telling us all what your favorite Christmas/Holiday song is. It can be a hymn, it can be classical, it can be anything that has meaning to you. Oh, yeah… and one other little thing… tell us why it has such meaning for you. Then, if more than 10 people leave a message on this blog post, Buzbee will draw a name on Monday and I will post the winner's name here on Monday night. So.. leave a message telling us your favorite holiday song – and why it is your favorite.
I'll start you off. My favorite Christmas carol is Silent Night. Why? Well, my mother used to sing it to me. She had a beautiful voice and I still think of her everytime I hear it.
My favorite Christmas song? I'll be Home for Christmas. In a time when so many of us live away from our families, including us, it is a song that always makes me think of home.
As always, thank you so much for spending a little time in my area of the stamping blogosphere. Your visits are always much appreciated.
Have a wonderful Sunday. Warm hugs and prayers to those of you who need a little lift.
Hugs
Jaydee

My favorite song is O Holy Night by David Phelps. He is just amazing. I remember singing this song myself when I was just in grade school and we would go caroling from church. It just a beautiful song with a beautiful theme.
I love “I Wonder as I Wander” because it sounds rather medieval and mystical and gives me a vivid feeling of a cold, starry night. Plus a whole bunch of others–love so many beautiful Christmas songs! Also love silver Glimmer Paper, and actually, the two things are rather alike!
Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer–Until I retired last year, I taught school. This song was the one that my students requested the most often. Of course they liked the version with the extra words the best (Rudolph the red nosed reindeer had a very shiny nose-like a lightbulb). While singing it, they would roll on the floor laughing!! Kids sure know how to get the most out of the simple things in life.
My favorite for Christmas is the Messiah by Handel. I love the Hallelujah chorus. I have special memories of going with my grandmother to see this many times at Christmas. My family does not care for this and often “mocks” me which makes it even more special when I insist on listening to it!
I also love “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” by Josh Groban, “Joy to the World” by Jewel, and “Silent Night” by Susan Boyle….. Oh I guess I love them all. Kinda like deciding which child you like best. They are all special in their own way!
Here’s an early wish for a wonderful Christmas season.
My favorite Christmas carol is “Away in the Manger” & my holiday tune favorite is “Chestnuts Roasting on the Open Fire” – well, perhaps that’s just a verse & not the true name? Anyway, my tunes bring me to memory lane every time. Your cards, suggestions & thoughts are truly perfect for my “memory lane” time also; I get so much out of the beauty you create, whether it be through your beautiful cards, little stories or life-sharing experiences. Thank you for today – it’s much appreciated.
Please thank Buzbee for drawing my name. I know I will enjoy the gift.
My favorite Christimas song is the David Bowie/Bing Crosby version of Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth. I have always liked the simpleness of the Drummer Boy and when the Peace part was added, it really spoke to my heart. And that is my wish for all.
In the past week I have heard Mary did you Know, sung three times by three different people. So pretty, it’s my new favorite song.
So hard to pick one favorite, but, I have always loved Silver Bells since 5th grade when I was the one with the silver bell to ring with the song. Of course, being the littlest in the class and always front and center doesn’t hurt! I love to hear church bells play as well even if they are not always silver!
Love your blog though I don’t comment very often!
Oo, what a rich, delicious card you have created! Those colors are stunning together. But, you know, Cherry Cobbler looks good with just about everything. ;o)
Oh my oh my, that is one busy little elf you have! How exciting for him to draw Doris’s name! Congrats, Doris!
My favorite Christmas carol is “Silent Night”. My parents were divorced when I was young, and every weekend I would visit my Papa. He would drive us home Sunday evenings and we would sing all the way. He had a beautiful deep bass voice and I would pipe up in my squeaky soprano and he would harmonize with me. He would sing a descant as I sang the melody and it left me with chills every time. Combine that with the candle light church services I have attended where they pass the flame during silent night, AND that wonderful story of the Christmas Truce during WWI and well, I’m toast.
My favorite Christmas song? Oh goodness me, I’m hard-pressed to pick just one. Right now it’s “The Christmas Song” as sung by Nat King Cole. That rich voice of his combined with those gorgeous strings in the background give me such a sense of peace and tranquility. I swear I could listen to it on repeat.
Oh, wait, I’m sorry, I’m also a HUGE sucker for “Christmas Time is Here” (the instrumental version) by the Vince Guaraldi Trio. I have such wonderful memories associated with “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and love that story so much. The song itself is simple, slow paced and lovely.
Oh dear, I’ve hijacked your comments! So sorry!!
Hugs,
Rach
Hi Jaydee! What a pretty Valentine card you have created! My favorites are many but I really enjoy “O Holy Night” and “Mary Did You Know” and “Joseph’s Song”. All Christmas songs and hymns bring back memories each year. How fun to read what everyone likes!
I’m with you on the Silent Night, I prefer it in German, by candlelight and in four part harmnony.
Least favorite is Santa Baby. It totally creeps me out!
Jaydee, this is lovely & sweet, as is your little Buzbee! I was thinking I need a little Shelf Elf for MY little elf! I love Silent Night first & foremost, but there are SO many others that I love as well!
What a rich card, Jaydee! I love the gold! As for my favorite Christmas song, I LOVE O, Holy Night and I LOVE White Christmas. Actually, I love so many of the carols!
This is lovely Jaydee! I never thought about how perfect these colors are for a love card…just gorgeous!
My favourite song is “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”, sung by Judy Garland in Meet Me in St. Louis. Ahhh…love it…
Your card is lovely Jaydee, what a clever way to use the colours this week!
Hugs,
Lesley
Hi Jaydee! I love your Valentine’s Day card! Simply stunning and beautifully elegant with the gold shimmer. Beautiful!
My two favorite holday songs are “I’ll Be Home for Christmas”, the Josh Groban version…makes me bawl every time and “White Christmas”, sung by the one and only, Bing Crosby…*swoon*. Although I have to say, I also love the Elvis Christmas album. My Mom played that every Christmas and I always get home-sick when I hear an Elvis Christmas song. Sorry, I’m getting nostalgic and going on and on…
Hope you are off to a great week! Big hugs! 🙂
Great CAS card Jaydee. I love that you made a valentine card with the color challenge. Very pretty!
