3D with Jaydee – Piece of Poison meets Frightful Sight meets It’s a Wrap

Hi Everyone.  Happy Halloween!

I wanted to make some Halloween cards, along with 3D items for some key people in my life.  Originally I had purchased the It's a Wrap Holidays stamp set, but then I realized that I could create labels for the Hershey nuggest in MDS.

Then, I realized I wanted some of the Frightful Sight DSP, but hadn't ordered any.  No problem… MDS to the rescue!!!!  I cannot believe how I had missed making hybrid projects with MDS before this last week or so.  I started by choosing the paper that I wanted – and decided to go with the spiders.

Itsybitsy

Itsy bitsy's anyone?  Then I thought…mmmmm… what for my focal point.  MDS to the rescue again!  I created a tag, using the tag punch in MDS, choose the spider element from the Piece of Poison download and added the sentiment from the Chat Room Occasions download.   I then sized the whole thing to suit my needs

Halloweeen tag

The last thing I needed to do for the front, was to back it on Basic Black card stock and add a couple of embellishments.

Of course, I then had to complete the inside.  Easy peasy.  A little Old Olive card stock, a bat from the Bat punch (now retired) – and a silvery moon courtesty of one of my round punches.  It was also the ideal time to bring out the picket fence punch from Martha Stewart.

Batty moon

The last thing I needed to do was to make a box for my Hershey Nuggets.  I don't have the fancy die for that, so used  basic piece of white paper to work out the size the box and lid should be, made sure it worked, then cut it out of Basic Black card stock for the insert and the retired Halloween DSP from last year.  I colored a little of the Very Vanilla Velvet ribbon using my black Sharpie and added two strips of the ribbon on either side of the box.  Last thing I needed to do… bring out the old MDS again and create a tag from the Piece of Poison set.

Now… I am guessing by now that you have gotten a little tired of all the sneak peeks…. so here is the whole ensemble together.

Halloween 2011 (1)

So, what do you think?  I think its a really cool set and I was as pleased as punch with myself.  I really didn't want to spend the money on the DSP knowing that I would only use a couple of sheets of it, so printing it from MDS was absolutely the right way to go.  The great thing about SU, is that I could take actual DSP (used for the box), from 2010, and it all just blends so beautifully together.

I thought the addition of the black lace ribbon from last year was perfect, too and gave a great feel of texture and reminded me of an old hag's tights!  The picket fence, punched in black, is perfect for the inside, as it echoes the lace from the front.  The two strips of velvety ribbon are great on the box too, as it ties the elements together.  Of course, the metallic silver paper, was perfect for the moon!

Now… I guess, you might like to see what I did with my MDS and the Hershey's nuggets, right?

Isn't that label from Pick your Poison embellishment download great?  I used the brain and the spider from the Pick your Poison download and sized it to fit behind the name.

I hope you liked the projects – I was certainly pretty pleased with them.  I won't say that it was quick, cos it wasn't, but well worth it, I thought.

Now, Mr Bilbo would like to send you his usual Halloween greetings.   (This was the first thing I ever made from MDS – back in October 2009!)  Wow… I think I've improved a little since then 🙂  However, I still wouldn't change a thing on this card, except, I would add real ribbon and a real button.  Still love the ditty, though!

Warm hugs and prayers for those who need a lift tonight.  I hope that tonight brings out a little child in all of us and that we celebrate just that…. children and the innocence and wonder that we all once had – and that is still deep down inside us!  Well, for me.. not so deep!

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Happy Halloween to you too, Bilbo!
Jaydee, I don’t know what it is about that bat card, but I just love it. I think it must be all that “white” space–er, green space? ;oP
At any rate, you’ve really shown us how very versatile MDS can be. Amazing how much you can do with it!
Happy Halloween to you and Lou as well! I hope you had lots of cute ghosties, ghoulies and goblins. :o)
    Hugs!

  2. You were busy! Cute results from a lot of hard work though!
The Halloween greeting from Mr. Bilboe is the cutest!

  3. I love the spider card, even though spiders are #2 on my EWWW & YUCK list (just after June bugs). It made me smile when I realized you managed to work bling into a Spooky card…of course we have come to expect nothing less 🙂
Have a great day One and All.

  4. You just make me so jealous! Gosh if I only had the time to come up with all of this and all the digi kits from SU too would help. Thanks so much for sharing with us.
Happy Halloween to you and Lou and all the fur babies! : )

  5. Oh, Jaydee! I am so glad you showed the MDS project! I never saw it the first time around…and it is so cute! Mmmm…your wrapped candy looks scrumptious!

  6. You are so “crafty”, thanks also for the card from Bilbo. Glad he is feeling better, hope Charlie is too.
