Briar Blossoms for Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #617

Happy Thursday.

It's another great sketch across at Atlantic Hearts this week and it totally inspired me to get out a set that we received as part of the Pinkfresh Studio Create and Connect event last week.  It's a set from Altenew (who partnered with PFS for the event).  It includes dies, embossing folder and stamps.  For my card I used the dies and the 3D embossing folder.  I had to turn the sketch to the vertical instead of the horizontal.  I paired it with an old die from the Stamp Market.

Here's a sneak peek:

And here's the sketch from Atltantic Hearts:

I began by die-cutting the elements and then ran them through my Intricut machine with the 3D embossing folder.  I then colored the images.  I added some gold detailing to the inside of the flowers to add a little more definition.  In retrospect, I think next time I will color the images and then run them through the embossing folder as I lost a little definition with the coloring.

I die cut the rounded element from the Stamp Market die and added some texture to the base of the card with a brick embossing folder.  The sentiment is from the same set and was heat set with gold embossing powder.  I layered and added the left hand section and added some black/white twine.  I popped up the flowers to mimic the flow from the sketch and added the popped up sentiment.

For once… NOT a white base!  Here's my card:

I know the talented design team would love you to play along with their challenge!  They generally have some great sketches for your inspiration.

On a personal note:

OK… well, winter is still here and we finally have some snow on the ground.  It sure looks pretty, but it sure has been cold.   -26F temps with wind chills down to -40F.  I like the cold…. but this is a little too cold.  Mind you, it has given me the perfect excuse to hand out in my craft room:-). With at least one of the cats, a good strong cup of Yorkshire tea and some shortbread!

My big (errr maybe much too big for the room!) chair is usually taken up by Charlie.  In fact, it's very rare that I get to sit in there when I'm crafting as he doesn't want to give up his warm, comfy spot.

The handsome Chili, on the other hand, prefers the chair that is in Lou's office.  I cannot believe how much he has grown in the last 10 months.  He recently celebrated his first birthday and still has a year of growing to do!

Oh…. and he just loves that stupid chicken.  It intermittently makes clucking noises and flaps its wings.  Chili loves to pounce on it and goes for its throat.  Then he gets bored with it.  Some nights I've been woken up by him dropping it on the bed and playing with it!

I'll be back tomorrow with another card.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee
