Hi Everyone. Happy Saturday night.
Hope you are all having a great weekend. Happy belated Canada Day to those of you above the border!
It's my pleasure to host the challenge across at the Paper Players this week. We have a theme challenge for you this week.
Pennant Parade was one of the sets from the new 2011/2012 catalog. I know that most of you must have seen the catty by now! I decided to use the punch and the stamps to create a very clean and simple Christmas card using card stock and DSP. I combined that with the Many Merry Messages set and a glitter brad. In less than 5 minutes I had a card.
If I'd had the chance last night, I would have gone back and changed the card a little – like using textured Very Vanilla card stock instead of plain. However, we had a massive storm last night and were without power for hours. Considering how hot it was, it made me realize how much I love the airconditioning! We only got power back after 2am this morning!
Anyway, here is my clean and simple Christmas tree card. I got this pic late yesterday afternoon, so the light isn't that great! I apologize for that.
Card recipe – All ingredients Stampin' Up!
- Card stock: Very Vanilla, Old Olive
- Stamps: Pennant Parade. Sentiment: Many Merry Messages
- Inks: Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler
- Tools: Penant Punch, Stampin' Dimensionals, Scoring tool (for scored lines above and below the sentiment)
- Accessories: Basic Glitter Brads
I hope that you will play along with the PaperPlayers again this week. The design team have created some gorgeous cards for you, so don't forget to go check them out.
On a personal note:
Oh…… two things of note tonight. Both firsts for the year.
- First firefly sighting… Yes, I saw my first firefly on Thursday night when fetching the post. It brought a huge smile to my face. They really are the most amazing little things!
- Our first turkey chicks!!!!! Yes….. I couldn't believe my eyes when I went to get tea during a break from meetings yesterday. Two females and a whole positive rafter of little turkeys.
It was really hard to get a photo – but I did manage to get this one
Can you see the way she is looking at that chick? Isn't it amazing. Anyway, I waited for ages to get this photograph – and was late for a conference call! I didn't tell them the real reason, of course! :-) I managed to see 3 chicks. However, much later Lou saw both the females and counted 10 chicks between them. What a fabulous sighting. It's the first time we have ever seen chicks in all the years we have been here. So, we were very happy!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and get to spend some time doing the things you love with those you love the most. If you are traveling this weekend, travel safely.
Now… don't forget to pop along to the Paper Players and play along.
Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift today.
Hugs
Jaydee

Clean and simple card, I love it!
What a beautiful picture of the Turkeys! Thank you for sharing!
You should not change a thing about your card – totally love it. We’ve had the fireflies here for a few weeks, now. Both John and I love them. It is the ONLY bug I like here and am not afraid of if one should land on me. They look so magical at night, out on the lawn.
What a great card, especially if you needed to mass produce. That little tree is gorgeous!
What darling turkey chicks you have and so exciting to see! Thanks for showing the pic to us.
Have a wonderful rest of the holiday weekend!
Jaydee! LOVE the card!!!! So simple, and I love the scored lines above and below the sentiment!

I love clean and simple cards …. and I love your card … a simple image and a simple statement, perfection without the fuss and bother! And just to top it off, a gold brad glittering at the top of the tree to add that final touch!!! Love it …
Oh, and love the pics of the turkeys …so cute!!!
Oh, Jaydee, I can’t begin to tell you how much I LOVE that card! All that gorgeous white space, so beautifully CAS. :o) Well done!
The turkey chicks? What a miracle–how utterly amazing you got to see them. I have never seen wild turkey chicks and am jealous. I’m laughing you were late for a conference call because of them, hee hee. :o)
I’m here with Lissie, and I’m trying to get some stamping done. Keep your fingers crossed for me that both girlies allow it to happen. ;o)
Before I forget, howdy, Lou!
I wish you all a Happy 4th!
Hugs!
Such a great card, Jaydee! Love the clean design and that Glimmer Brad is the perfect touch. How cool is that photo of the baby turkey? We used to have wild turkey in the woods behind our house in North Dakota, but I have never seen a little one! The photo is very well worth being late for the call. Hee hee! Hope you are enjoying your 4th of July holiday! Hugs! 🙂
Wonderful CAS card, I wouldn’t change a thing!
Thanks for the pictures, although at first, I have to tell you, I thought the turkey was sitting on top of a turtle. I had to adjust my glasses & look again, LOL! 😀

Jaydee, I LOVE this card–so perfectly simple and elegant. Love all the what space and the cutest little Christmas tree ever! Love the glimmer brad at that top!
