Magnificent Magnolia for Paper Players #723

Happy Sunday.

It's the fabulous Ann's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a very timely theme for us.  I decided to ink up a fairly new stamp from Pinkfresh Studio called Magnificent Magnolia.  I used the matching press plate, stencils, dies and some Copic markers for my creation.  Here's a sneak peek:

At first I was tempted to do a more traditional love themed Valentine's card, but changed my mind and created a with love card that could be sent any time of the year.
 
I used my glimmer hot foil system and some gold foil with the press plate to create the outline.  I then used the stencils for the coloring.  I added some extra depth with Copic markers before I die-cut the image.  I used the postage edge frames – also from Pinkfresh – to create a frame for the focal image.  I just felt it needed a little something.  I also ink blended the background and card base with some blue Waterfall ink to make the colors pop.  The inside of the frame is slightly darker than the outside, just for a little contrast.

I really am enjoying playing with my glimmer hot foil system.  I know I could have used gold embossing powder, but the soft, crisp edges that you get from the hot foil is fabulous.

On a personal note:

Well, having gone from nearly -40 to +50 certainly confused everything.  I can't believe it's the 2nd of February and we don't have any snow on the ground.  I really do miss seeing it at this time of the year.  It just doesn't seem right without it.  It was so warm on Friday that I was looking for furniture for our new deck and then realized that it wasn't even the end of January and we were, technically, about 4 months from needing it!

Oh and @LeAnne, just to let you know that your name came out of the hat for the Alexandra Renke blog candy – so the Just for You stamp set will be winging it's way to you.

  3. Jaydee, your card this week takes my breath away! It is gorgeous. The colors of the magnolia are so soft and subtle and look wonderful against the blue. The hot foil is fabulous. I am so glad you created a “love” card that could be used any time of the year! Have a wonderful week!

  4. What an absolute stunner! Those magnolia, with their crisp metallic edges and depth of colour, are so real they could jump right into a vase! The soft sky-like background and elegant frame moves them even further up the ladder of gorgeousness. I am intrigued by the hot foil system you are using. It isn’t something I’ve seen or used but it looks like a great craft-room asset. Have a lovely week. 🙂

  6. I love every inch of your gorgeous card, Jaydee! Setting the floral spray in the postage frame just pulls it all together so beautifully. I agree with you – hot foiling, especially with press plates, is so satisfying and far less messy than embossing powder. I like that you made a with love card, too, showing how many options this theme has.
