Hi Everyone. Happy Wednesday.
I hope you all had a great day.
I thought we would take a break from pachyderm talk today and focus on a card. That should make Beverly happy (big grin!)
I saw this great layout across at Stamping411 and decided it was a great layout for a card I needed to make for a friend who is in need of a little "pick me up". It's a really cool sketch and very flexible.
I love the coffee pot image from the Morning Cup set and decided to combine it with the Take a Sip wheel. My wheels are very neglected – and they shouldn't be. They are actually really useful.
As I love using Crystal Effects on the coffee pot to give it that glazed look, I tend to stick with darker, brighter colors for cards. This time I chose Cajun Craze as the background DSP and overstamped it with my Take a Sip wheel. I always use my wheel guides to help me get the image into the right place. It was especially important for this card, as I ran the wheel 4 times.
Here's what I came up with:
Card recipe – all ingredients Stampin' Up!
- Card stock: Whisper White, So Saffron, Cajun Craze
- Stamps: Morning Cup, Take a Sip (wheel)
- DSP: Regals Patterns Packs
- Accessories: Gingham Ribbon, Regals Button, twine
- I covered the pot with Crystal Effects and left it to dry. I used my blender pen and a little bit of Basic Grey ink to provide a shadow line under the cups and the coffee pot – just to ground them a little
Don't forget to pop along to the Stamping411 site and check out the fabulous design team and submission cards.
On a personal note:
I am sad to say that our fabulous Orioles have moved on to greener pastures. They stayed for almost two weeks filling up on food and water and taking multiple baths in our new fountain. Alas, they didn't see our garden as a great place to rear their young, so pushed off. Ungrateful beasts 🙂
I did manage to take one last pic though
Isn't he just the most handsome creature?
Yesterday evening I sat on the deck for a little while reading my Stampin' Success (SU demo) magazine. It was a glorious evening. I took this picture of our fountain, the new bench seat that was built with the new deck last year. It seemed so peaceful, serene and homey.
Now, all I need to do is get the bench cushions made, the outdoor curtains up, the lamps in place…… errrr… mmmm… maybe I had better get working on that. Or, maybe I could make a card!
Congrats to Cherie and Jan – they were absolutely spot on. The little animal that was on my blog post last night is, in fact, the Rock Hyrax. They are adorable creatures and one of the favorite foods of many of the large eagles that frequent the rocky outcrops that the "dassies" inhabit. If you want to read more about this relative of the elephant you can check this link.
Continued prayers for those affected by the storms and those who need a little lift or a warm hug.
Have a fabulous Thursday everyone and, as always, thank you so much for spending a little bit of time in my area of the stamping blogosphere. Your visit – and your comments – are always greatly appreciated.
Hugs
Jaydee

What a fun, clean sketch. I LOVE your take on it. :o) The sentiment certainly had me snickering, as that seems to be my life these days. ;o) I too am guilty of neglecting my wheels, and you are correct, they are too useful to leave them sitting collecting dust.
The CE on the coffee pot is fantastic and I love the little ghost-y image of the teacup on the tag. This is a fun fun card. :o)
I’m bummed your orioles flew the coop–so to speak. I was looking forward to seeing photos of them throughout the spring/summer. Pooh. :o( But, that is one gorgeous last photo you got!
The deck is fantastic! I LOVE LOVE LOVE your bench and the view. The serenity is evident from the photo. I can just envision a morning cup of coffee or afternoon cup of tea whilst sitting out there. :o)
Thanks for the fascinating information on the cute little dassies. :o)
Hugs and prayers for those in need or who just need a lift. :o)
Love your use of the Crystal Effects. What a realistic touch!
Love the tiny tag — very nice touch! And your deck and yard is beautiful! Thanks for sharing and for playing along this week at Stamping 411! Blessings, Gretchen
Love the card and the colours you used Jaydee. What a lovely garden you have, such lush grass! Our lawn is dull and boring, still need rain!!
Jan xx
Love your card. Beautiful dp. I’ve tried to draw Orieles to our yard this year but none showed up. I did finally see an indigo bunting last night, however. I’ve been waiting for them.
Aw, I love it! Now one thing…that is TEA in that pot, right? I so do not like coffee at all. Thanks for thinking about me. Your yard/gardening is beautiful and thanks so much for sharing pictures with us. Have a great Thursday.
I never thought of stamping on DSP-great idea!
Maybe sometime you can do a video on using the wheel guide. I have never been able to use it properly.
Photos are breathtakingly beautiful!
Your blog is one of my favorite places each day. Thanks so much for all the inspiration and tutorials.
This card is fantastic – and easy enough to actually do. Love the colors and stamping on the dsp.
Of course I love your photos of birds and your garden. How do you get the sun to shine? We have had a week of rain and gloom and more predicted in New England. Send us some sun.
Fun and cute card! Love the image and of course, that sentiment is just perfect! Wonderful card.
Such a pretty oriole too! They really are a gorgeous bird.

Hi Jaydee! I love the pictures that show on your blog! I would love to sit on your deck & take that morning sip with you and just enjoy the beautiful scenery! It is so beautiful to me!
I also love the card too! Thank you for sharing another awesome creation with us!
Mmmmm, the rich colors & gorgeous coloring are making me crave coffee!! Great job 🙂
I also neglect to use my stamping wheels as often I would like. 🙁 I just love how you used yours to create such a fun and subtle background. Beautiful color combo, too.
Gorgeous photos of your beautiful garden. Looks like such a wonderful retreat to enjoy the day. Hugs! 🙂
