Clean and Simple Flowers for the PPA – sneak peek

Hi Everyone, happy Monday night.

I thought I would use the Paper Players clean and simple sketch this week for6a00e54f95df928834014e60d7225a970c-200withe challenge across at Pals Paper Arts.  They had this fabulous inspiration photo  and the project has to feature flowers.  Well, I saw the colors and bold patterns from the inspiration photo and decided it was time to get out some of the fabulous new DSP.  I then decided that a bold DSP would look really good with a clean and simple sketch.

Of course, I then had to pair that with my new favorite stamp set:  Fabulous Florets.

Here's what I came up with:

Ppawithiphoto

I love the sentiment that comes with this new set.  I thought it was perfect for this card – and for spring in general!

Card recipe – all ingredients Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted:

  • Card stock:  Whisper White, Daffodil Delight
  • DSP:  Beyond the Garden
  • Stamps:  Fabulous Florets
  • Inks:  Sentiment: Cajun Craze.  Flower – Copic markers
  • Tools/Accessories:  Pearl (non SU.)  Scallop Border Punch

I was really pleased with the card when I completed it and feel that it captures the bright, bold, summery colors of the inspiration photograph.  What do you think?

Cutting out the flower and popping it on Stampin' Dimensionals helps to really make it pop.  I decided not to take one particular color from the DSP to create the flower, but to create a color that captured the tones of the DSP.

On a personal note:

I got 5 cards made yesterday.  Yes.. that is 5.. count them..1…2…3..4..5…. :-)  I was so happy.  I decided that I really needed to get back into the swing of things and made a couple of cards from the Stampin' Up! demo only magazine.  I've never done that before, but saw a couple that really struck me – especially as they were out of my normal comfort zone.  I thought it would be a good way to get back into the groove of things.   It was really good to be back in my stamping space and creating.   I turned on my live streaming classical music station – kdfc.org, turned up the volume – got out my inks, paper and rubber…. and was a happy little camper.  Little Charlie jumped up on "his" chair, curled up and spent the afternoon fast asleep keeping me company.

I woke him up to take this picture… he wasn't very impressed – and was still half asleep – as you can see

A soft, silk cushion to sleep on.  Not bad for a cat that was living in a corn field! 🙂

Prayers tonight for those who have been affected by the tornadoes and storms across the mid-west and south of the country.  I saw the pictures today.  I hope you are all safe – as are your families.  Warm hugs and prayers, too, for those of you who need a little lift today.

Prayers also for Katie.  You can check out the story of Katie on this post.  If you feel inclined, you can also help a group of fellow crafters who are raising money for Katie's chemotherapy.  A $15 purchase of great digital images puts all $15 directly towards Katie's care.

Have a fabulous Tuesday.  Don't forget to join the Paper Players for our CAS sketch… and to pop along to PalsPaperArts to check out their flower challenge.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. I LOVE this card Jaydee! That colour you created is gorgeous! That is a great sketch you did this week. I cannot believe that is the same cat from a year ago! Wow! I love his nose! So cute! I need to add more photos of Rolley Dog.

  2. What a beautiful card, Jaydee! The colors are so rich, and the CAS design really works to showcase that DSP. :o)
Oh, that Charlie is such a lovebug! What a cute darling. How are the other kitties doing with his education?
Many hugs and prayers for those in need.

  3. I like your card, Jaydee, it’s lovely, don’t get me wrong. But Charlie, oh, my goodness, he’s gorgeous! I adore black and whites (we call them B&W’s), and firmly believe there is a Cat Painting Angel who designs their markings! Charlie is just so artistic to be your studio companion. And I’m sure you’ve noticed his nose has the perfect SU Decorative Label Punch {the left or right side} on it!!

  4. Little Charlie is adorable!!!! Such gorgeous markings! I can imagine his joy on that silk pillow… so much better than that corn field. *smile* Your card is beautiful, I just love it. Thanks so much for playing at the PPA! Hugs,

  5. Yay for Jaydee making cards! And this one is a beauty. I’ve never been a fan of orange, but this one is making me change my mind. I may have to get that stamp set just to get the sentiment. It’s such a happy thought. Thanks for my morning brightener, Jaydee.

  6. This is such a pretty card. I love the colors and the simple layout. I know it is hard to cut out the flower, but it sure looks good!
Love the picture of Charlie, one blessed cat!

  7. A nice, bright and colourful spring card!! I like the sentinment. What a beautiful fellow is Charlie, a real poser on that silk cushion, that is for sure!
