Happy Birthday…….

Hi Everyone.  Happy Sunday night.

I generally don't post on Sunday's, but wanted to say Happy Birthday to two great guys.

Now, I don't know about you, but I really, really, really, find it hard to make "man" cards.  In fact, I find many of the "masculine" stamp sets a little cliched.  So, because I don't use the general "masculine" stamp sets, I get even more lost!

Tonight's card is to say Happy Birthday to John L and Mike C.

John is the hubby of my best friend.  John personifies the sentiment on tonight's cards.  I swear, that guy gets up in the morning and doesn't shave like normal men.  He just gets up and sprinkles pixie dust over his head.  He never gets any older.  In the 30 years that I have known John, he really has hardly aged at all.  Happy Birthday, John.  We love you!

Mike is a work colleague.  Mike is a wonderful guy.  I remember Mike from my days working with customers "in the field".  Sometimes I would be working on a critical customer situation and desperately need someone who really "knew their stuff" on database.  Mike was always amazingly responsive, always eager to help and never made me feel like an idiot because I didn't understand database as much as he did!  Mike – Happy 50th Birthday!

Lou told me NO RIBBON! for the card.  Man, seriously.  Me!  No ribbon.  Aaaaaarrrrrggghhh!  I felt like a child whose favorite doll had been taken away from her 🙂

John and Mike – here's your card

    Birthday (1)

Card recipe:  All ingredients Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted:

  • Card stock:  Night of Navy, Whisper White
  • Accessories:  Library clip
  • DSP:  Patterns Pack – Regals
  • Sentiment:  congratulations….Inside & Out (Baby) – Papertrey Ink.  Quote… Wordsworth – Lincoln Collection

Several of you have written comments saying how much you are enjoying the "white space" cards.  I think Rach was right, it may be a reaction to the more overly decorated cards from the festive season.  Since I got back, so many of the cards I have made are very definitely clean and simple.

I have been very blessed to meet some  talented crafters and all round amazing ladies through my blog.  Over the next few nights I would like to give a shout out to them.  Tonight….Robin K – the first person to ever buy anything from my via my blog.  Beverly who was introduced to me by Robin.   Adelle one of my earliest blog followers.  Rach who lets me live with children vicariously through her blog!  Beth and Missy, two of my most loyal blog commenters.  Lesley, who found my blog and asked me to be a member of her design team…… of course, I cannot do a shout out without mentioning Trish!  there are so many others, but rather than just list them all tonight, I really want to call out just a few every night, so am going to space it out a little. :-)

Prayers tonight for Rose, Adelle, Maria, Vickie, Brien, Germaine, Pri.  For those of you who need a little lift.

As always, thank you for spending time in my little area of the stamping blogosphere.  You know that your visits and your comments are greatly appreciated.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Masculine cards are SO hard for me. SO hard. I agree with you, the “masculine” stamps seem too cliched. I always try to use some nature stamps and avoid ribbon(!). Brien insists you canNOT have ribbon on a masculine card, and if you do, definitely NO bows. ;o)
You have nailed this card. Again, the white space is so appealing, and the sentiment is wonderful. Those are two lucky guys to be a recipient of that card. :o)
You are most certainly welcome to live with children vicariously through my blog…it’s probably better than the real thing, lol! ;o) It’s definitely quieter and less cluttered. :oP
Brien is feeling much better, thank you so much for the prayers. He said he is finally no longer sore.
My prayers, as always, for those in need.
    Hugs!

  2. Love this card Jaydee! I,too, have a very hard time making masculine cards! This card I am gonna have to save and CASE when that time comes! I need to go make some now to have on hand LOL!
I don’t know how you do this everyday! But I do know that I am never disappointed with your creations! You don’t have to thank me for visiting you blog! I NEED to thank YOU for always lifting me up and giving me so much inspiration from your blog! It feels like home here! You know the old saying “There’s no place like HOME”- that is HERE! Thank you for all you do for us! I truly appreciate YOU!

  3. A fabulous masculine card, Jaydee! Not only do you create fabulous “decorated” cards, you are becoming the “Queen of Clean and Simple”!

  4. What a cool masculine card! I like the sentiment and also the blue look so good on the white. Nice and clean and just right for a guy!

  5. wow what a great card Jaydee
I think you *nailed* that one!
But seriously *no* ribbon….ugh! I totally agree! You done a super job.
    Have a great day!

  6. ahhh…I still remember falling in love w/ your style. I CASED 2 of your cards for a Cmas swap!
As I remember…and Bev can attest…they got the better end of the swap cards…lol

  7. Really enjoy the house progress pictures. It is coming along nicely. It will be fun seeing the finished product. Are you having bookcases on either side of the fireplace? Packing is the pits. There will always be something more to pack even when you think you are finished.
    Thanks for sharing. Marge
