Season’s Greetings – Doves of Peace

Hi Everyone.  Happy Sunday night.

A very quick posts for you tonight.  I am still trying to finish up editing videos I took today and it is really taking longer than I thought!

I did want to share a card I made for the sweetstop challenge this week.  It's a great layout and I was compelled to create yet another Christmas card using Always Artichoke and Cherry Cobbler.  Pop along to the sweetstop blog and check out the sketch, the fabulous design team cards and the submissions.  I know you will find something to inspire you.

Sweetstop (3)

I used my favorite DSP – Deck the Halls.  The Always Artichoke seam binding ribbon and Cherry Cobbler and Always Artichoke card stock.  The focal image was stamped onto white card stock and colored using my Copic markers.

I used the nestabilities petite ovals to create the backdrop for the birds.  Once I had finished coloring the doves, I cut around them using my paper snips and mounted them onto the oval using Stampin' Dimensionals.

I used a non-SU texturz plate for the Cherry Cobbler layer.  I had stamped that layer with a music sheet layer prior to running it through my big shot.  This gives a little interest, without overwhelming the image.

To lift the holly leaves a little, I used the sanding block from my distressing kit.  This takes a little color off the embossed layers.

The sentiment was stamped onto Always Artichoke card stock.  I used my Holly Stampin' Wheel and ran it over the Always Artichoke layer using Versamark  I then stamped the sentiment in Cherry Cobbler.

All that was required was to assemble the card.

On a personal note:

Today was a gorgeous fall day.  Cool, but sunny and no rain!  Lou managed to get out on his bike whilst I stayed home and did a little crafting.  made three videos today, but have only managed to edit two of them, so
still have one more to do.  I am slowly getting to understand my camera
and my video editing software, I guess these things take a while!

Tonight we watched one of my all time favorite TV shows.  The Amazing Race.  I always love this program.  I love to see where the teams will go and what they will do.  It's a little formulaic in the types of teams they put on the show, but I try to get past that and enjoy it anyway.  I think some of the contestants on the show must sit and watch themselves when they get back home and shake their heads and go aaaaarrrrrgggghhh!  Tonight, there must have been quite a few teams doing just that.  Especially the team who thought they were in the country of London. 🙂

Prayers tonight for Germaine, T, Pri, Cam, John & Sue.  For Adelle, Lesley, Rach and their furbabies.  Janna, I hope you are feeling better.

As always, thank you for visiting my little area of the stamping blogosphere.

Have a fabulous Monday.  I hope your day is filled with love and laughter.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Love the card Jaydee! I am feeling much better, Thank you for thinking of me. I’m so excited that you are doing more videos! I can’t wait to watch them.
I was able to get my cards in the mail yesterday, but my 100 cards are nothing compared to Cam’s 500. 😛 Way to go Cam! Hope everyone has a wonderful week.

  2. Cherry Cobbler really is the most perfect Christmas color. Ah, heck, it’s just perfect period. What a red! You use it beautifully with this card. The doves are so elegant. :o)
I’m not even close to 100 cards for the OWH drive–nor 100 for that matter. Things have been crazy hectic here. :oS I’ll have a few for you, though. :o)
I’m happy you have been having fall temps. It was 100 here Friday evening. :sob:! I keep hoping fall can’t be too far away now.
My prayers for one and all. Happy Monday!
    Hugs!

  3. Your card is beautiful as always (the cutting is superb) and I also wanted to comment that I too love to watch The Amazing Race. I wish they would have spent more time at Stonehenge but I too laughed outloud at the country of London comment. Wouldn’t you think people would practice reading maps before they went on that race? Perhaps driving on the opposite side of the road is too confusing to them.

  4. I am glad you have not hung up your paper snips! this is a fabulous card-perfectly colored doves, great layout–WOW!
