Hi Everyone. Happy Monday night.
Very quick post for you tonight… I am running really late.
The challenge across at notimetostamp this week was to use a technique. The technique – cracked glass. Well, I had never used that technique before, so was quite happy to give it a try. The finished product is supposed to look like… well, someone cracked the glass. I think this card definitely fits the bill.
I don't often do technique challenges, so it was pretty cool to really force myself out of my comfort zone.
Here's the card I made
The stamp is one from Flourishes. I find that when I buy a stamp that is non-SU, it is generally one that I can use to color. I think this stamp is gorgeous and had great fun coloring it. In fact, I did two different ones – I just haven't made a card from the other one yet.
I used SU Cherry Cobbler card stock, Cherry Cobbler seam binding ribbon, but the image and sentiment are both non SU. I used my nestabilities to cut out the oval in the Cherry Cobbler card stock.
You can find a great video on the Cracked Glass technique across at splitcoast. Beate's technique video is great…. but let me give you a couple of pointers though, if you want to do this yourself.
- The thinner the card stock you are working on the better. So, Whisper White is ideal for this.
- Beate suggests trying to reload the image when the Glassy Glaze is still hot. I couldn't get this to work properly for me, so I let each layer dry and then used Versamark over the cooled layer.
- The more even the layers the better the cracking will be
Prayers tonight for Rach….. Rach… I will be so thinking of you tomorrow. I have my RAK planned and will wear something sparkly. For those of you interested in finding out what this means… pop along tomorrow to Rach's website I know that Rach will appreciate some support from us all tomorrow. For Germaine, T, Pri, Lesley and Adelle (and their furbabies).
As always, thank you for visiting my little area of the stamping blogosphere. Your visits, your support – and your comments are greatly appreciated.
Have a fabulous Tuesday everyone.
Hugs
Jaydee
