Hi everyone. Happy Friday night.
I am so excited that it is the weekend… oh yeah… and my hubby comes home tomorrow, too! 🙂
Tonight's card goes back to my clean and simple roots. I really enjoy creating in different styles, including vintage – well, my version of vintage anyway! Sometimes, clean and simple is the best. This stamp dictates clean and simple to me. I know this Measure of a Life set is retired. In fact, I bought it off a famous auction site…. but, it doesn't matter whether it is retired or not – it is a set that will always be with me. I love the graphic images with the heartfelt sentiments. I love the fact that I can spend time coloring it….. So, as you can guess, I had fun creating this card. The theme for the cas78 challenge across at splitcoast – was clean and simple featuring things that fly. Well, dragonflies do that! I'd love a pond to attract more dragonflies. They make me happy when they appear in the garden!
So, for those CAS lovers who visit my blog regularly, two clean and simple cards in two nights!
Card recipe:
- Card stock: Whisper White
- Stamps: Measure of a Life and Occasional Quotes
- Inks: Copics
Card instructions:
- Very simple card. Cut card stock to 5 x 10 and fold at 5 with the fold at the top
- Ink up image and stamp
- Ink up sentiment and stamp – use stamp-a-ma-jig for placement
- Color
I don't think the instruction list has ever been this short 🙂
On a personal note:
I did manage to get into my stamping space today – although my last conference call ended at 5.30! I spent an hour in my space before going off to do the nightly chores and I really enjoyed it. I used a single layout and made 2 entirely different cards from it – and am about to make a third. I really like being able to show you how to use a layout or a stamp set in different ways. No time for stamping tomorrow. I have to visit the Farmer's market, do a little shopping, go get my roots done, do some housework and maybe… maybe… I might get a little time in the afternoon to relax and create. I don't know about you, but I get antsy when I cannot do a little creativity during the week. It really helps me to switch off from my job and focus on something different.
Charlie is doing well. He is back to his normal self. We are going to start cutting back on his 3 x daily feeds now and get him into a routine of twice per day. I'm also trying to spend as much time as I can socializing with him, trying to teach him what is "acceptable" and what is not. He really is a lover though. He chirrups in greeting, follow you around and then stands on his hind legs to be picked up. He sits on your shoulder or in the crook of your folded arms on your chest and kisses and bumps noses. I'm still amazed that an animal can trust when unknown things have occurred to them. Oh… and Brenda…. he is more of a dog-like cat than Sam even is!!!
Our other rescue, Chester, has taken much longer to trust. He had been terribly traumatized. I had NEVER seen a cat look at me the way Chester did when I went into his room at the local cat rescue. It broke my heart. He was terrified of anything with string or anything long – like a pole toy, a tie. He was so terrified that he would just sit rooted to the floor and wet himself. Now, considering cats are so fastidious…. poor little thing. It has taken two years to get him to the point where he will play with string toys, doesn't run and hide when people come around, etc. The only thing he cannot cope with is thunder and lightening. Otherwise he does really well.
I don't know what it is about me… but over the years I have rescued over 100 dogs. Including scaling a 6' wall to rescue an Afghan that had been tied to an outdoor faucet on a rope that was only 7" long. She was being starved and couldn't lie or sit…. I've also been called upon by neighbors to rescue rabbits, birds and … even a snake! I can't count the number of cats I've rescued. One day I am going to become that crazy cat lady that lives alone in some creepy house and only comes out at night! hang on….. everything sounds like me except the creepy house 🙂
Trish….. my thoughts and prayers are with you, my friend. I cannot imagine the anguish that you are experiencing as you wait for your results.
Prayers for Trish, Germaine, Angela, Hugo, T, Pri, Arthur, John and Sue.
Thank you to all of you for spending time in my little area of the stamping blogosphere. Your visits, your support and your comments are much appreciated.
Have a fabulous Saturday everyone. I hope it is filled with love, laughter and time spent with those you love.
Hugs
Jaydee

Tonights card is absolutely beautiful Jaydee. From the simplicity to the verse…it all works. It’s great hearing the ongoing saga of Charlie. He is fortunate to have you looking out for him!
Love that retired image. You and my girls are just alike regarding animals. It’s a wonderful trait. It blesses many critters.
Great job coloring and what a nice simple card. I have this stamp set too and I need to use it more! You have inspired me-again!
Well, don’t know what happened but my comment disappeared! Let me try this again!
Very pretty card Jaydee! I love dragon flies too!
Glad to hear Charlie is doing good!
Prayers to all my cyber friends!
The colors are good but I couldn’t figure out the dragon fly until you told me. I am rather dense first thing in the morning.
How did you get the cattail bird stamp? My dealer said she has to have a $100 order before she can order from Memory Box. Comments anyone. I want that stamp!
