Baja Wedding

HI Everyone.  Happy Friday night.

I got to spend a little time in my stamping space this evening…. oh yeah… it is a good night when that happens!

Tonight's card was made for my stint as the guest designer for the CAS challenge on splitcoast this past Monday.  Only one problem with it …. generally you get about 2-3 weeks notice that you are the guest designer and you get the challenge.  Unfortunately, there was a mix up and I only got the challenge a couple of hours before it was due to be loaded.  Ooopsss.    aaaaaarrrrrghhhh!  the pressure.  Seriously, it was pretty tough for me.  Here was the original sketch that we had to work with Is this shabby.  I decided to keep the sketch pretty much as it was, but change out the DSP and the sentiment, but kept the overall design – and the flower.

It was a great excuse to use the Elegant Soiree DSP.  It's such a beautiful paper – in fact, I used it for a card tonight, too!

I changed out the background card stock and paired the Baja Breeze DSP with Soft Suede.  It's amazing, but since the color renovation, I have grown to love some colors that I have rarely used – Soft Suede is one of those colors!

The flower came out really well!   I used my scallop circle punch to punch out 5 pieces of the DSP, then used my bone folder to break down the fibers a little.  After that, all you need to do is crumple the paper and the assemble the flower.  A rhinestone brad through the middle keeps the flower together and adds just a little bit of bling – perfect for a wedding card.

Card recipe – all ingredients Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted:

  • Card stock:  Soft Suede textured, Very Vanilla
  • DSP:  Elegant Soiree
  • Stamp: Big and Bold Wishes (Papertrey)
  • Accessories:  Basic Pearls, Clear Rhinestone brad
  • Tools:  Big Shot, Large Scallop Square die

Card instructions:

  • Cut card stock 11 x 5 1/2 – fold and score at 5 1/2" so that the card is 5 1/2" square
  • Run DSP through the Big Shot with the Scallop Square die
  • Adhere DSP to card base using snail
  • Cut a piece of Very Vanilla the size that you need for your sentiment.  Cut a "V" on the outside edge.  Adhere to card base
  • Punch out the DSP – break down the fibres and crumple paper to create the ruffled flowers.  Pierce the middle with a paper piercer and push through a rhinestone brad.  Adhere to card base using mini glue dots
  • Adhere half pearls to top right hand corner
  • Voila.  You are done.  Less than 10 minutes from start to finish.

On a personal note… still no furniture on the deck yet….. But definitely on Sunday.  Tomorrow is our weekly trip to the Farmer's Market – can't wait!

Rach, your card inspired me to create a card using Poppy Parade and I thoroughly enjoyed making the card – so thanks for the inspiration.

Lynn, your card – ended up costing me $30 dollars.  I bought not just this stamp – but also two other Fluffles stamps – you enabler you….:-)

Prayers as usual for Trish, T, Pri – Brien (for his interview), Arthur for his procedure.  And to those of you who need a little prayer.

I hope you all have a fabulous Saturday filled with love, laughter and joy.

As always, thank you for visiting my little corner of the stamping blogosphere, your visits, your support and your comments, are always much appreciated.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Beautiful Card Jaydee. When I first saw the Original Sketch that you were to work with, I though to myself “I wonder if she is going to use the Elegant Soiree DSP?”. Well low and behold, look at what you went and did…looks just wonderful, and the graduated Pearls a a striking touch. Is that stamp “Big and Bold Wishes” still available?” I’ll have to gander over and give me a look, You’ve used it so often, and I really do like it a lot. Thanks for sharing the other two links with us, both cards are equally amazing. I love the colors used in Rach’s Card and that Cat is too funny in Lynn’s Card. They both made me smile and that is a good day. Still thundering and pouring like crazy here, hotter that Peppers too, 89degrees today, even with all of the rain. Flooding everywhere, people being evacuated, just terrible and supposed to continue all night tonite and all day and night Saturday. We will get a break on Sunday, but not from the heat or humidity, will still be in the upper 80’s and low 90’s. Just not my cup of tea, not good for my health either. Oh please give me some nice 77degress with a calm breeze, thank you.
To Everyone: you all know that I care deeply about you and Pray for you everday. Please take my Prayers and use them as you see fit. I also send Well Wishes to whomever needs them. Smiles.
Cyber hugs to you Jaydee, Trish in Wisconsin

  3. I’m with you on the color renovation/finding new colors to enjoy thing. For me, it was Baja Breeze and Pacific Point. I honestly did not care much for either of those colors when they were In Colors, but now I’m really enjoying them. :o)
I’m so glad you were inspired by my card. :o) Lynn’s Fluffles is TOO funny! :o) I can totally see a kitty getting into trouble like that. :oP
I’m off to the FM here in a moment, but wanted to pop by and wish you a happy weekend. Thanks for the prayers for Brien. And, of course, prayers as always for Trish and those who need them.
    HUGS! :o)

Oh well….at least you’ll have a few that are already stamped for you. (I also included another image I thought you’d like).
I tried to leave a post on your card (and coon) yesterday, but it just was not letting me go through with it for some reason. Your monsters are precious and so is Martha! What a cute name for her.
