Hi Everyone. Happy Tuesday night.
Today, two boxes of goodies arrived from SU and another one arrives tomorrow with items that were on backorder. It took me 4 hours to sort through everything, change the wood mount stamps to clear, clean out my stamping cupboard, etc. etc. etc. Yep… 4 hours! But it sure looks good and there are lots of new goodies just waiting to be handled with loving care 🙂
However, there are some of my old stamps that remain favorites – Inspired by Nature is one of those sets. There is something just so amazing about the Echinacea image and I find myself going back to it again and again.
I saw this fabulous sketch across at just-add-ink. It is a classic clean and simple layout. I wanted to do a CAS layout with a little rusticity and try a new color combo. I decided that the square lattice embossing folder was a perfect backdrop for the flowers. The color combo? Old Olive, More Mustard, Very Vanilla and Early Espresso! You really should go along and check out the challenge cards. The talented design team not only have their own cards on display, but have also built a montage of the entries so far. Cool!
The sketch also allowed me to feature the sentiment "because I care" from the new level 1 hostess set "Because I Care". It really is a fabulous sentiment.
So, here's my take on the sketch.
I love the texture of the square lattice folder and the texture that comes from the stamp itself.
Card recipe:
- Card stock: Very Vanilla, Early Espresso
- Inks: More Mustard, Early Espresso, Old Olive (markers)
- Stamps: Inspired by Nature, Because I Care
- Accessories: Early Espresso 1/8" ribbon
- Tools: Big Shot, Square Lattice Embossing folder, dimensionals
Card instructions: (really easy)
- Cut Early Espresso card stock to A2 – scored vertically
- Cut Very Vanilla card stock to 5 1/4" x 4" and run through Big Shot with the square lattice folder
- Rub Edges of the Very Vanilla piece with Early Espresso ink
- Ink up two of the flowers from the Inspired by Nature set using Early Espresso, More Mustard and Old Olive markers. Huff and puff on the stamp and stamp onto Very Vanilla card stock. Using your paper snips cut around the image
- Ink up the "because I care" sentiment using More Mustard and Early Espresso markers – stamp onto Very Vanilla layer.
- Wrap ribbon around this layer and then adhere to the Early Espresso card base
- Using snail adhere the small flower and place end of stem just under the ribbon.
- For the bigger flower, cut pieces of dimensionals (I use the outer edges of the dimensionals so that I get thin strips for the stem and leaf. I place whole dimensionals under the head of the flower. Adhere, tucking the end of the stem just under the ribbon. You could leave the entire stems on if you want, but I chose to cut them for this card
- Cut a piece of Very Vanilla card stock for the inside and decorate. A quick and easy card
On a personal note: It has been another humid day here. 96% humidity. I do find the humidity draining. I also needed to go to the hairdresser and…like you, Beth – my hair is naturally curly… and this weather just makes it ultra frizzy. I have a lot of hair… so I just look like a fuzzball!
Today, we made a little progress on the deck. We ordered comfy casual seating from Restoration Hardware. Taking advantage of the 4th July sale! I love me a bargain! The landscaper should be calling us tomorrow to come around and look at the little project we have. Hopefully we can get it done and finished and then I can take some pics for you – before and after – and show you our new space. I don't want to take pics until it is completely finished though. So that you get the true before and after feel.
Well, Lou has just let me know that dinner is ready. No, Cherie and Brenda, not mushrooms a la Lou – we are saving those for when you come to visit! Isn't he a sweetie… cooking for me so that I can update my blog and finish packing away my goodies!
Prayers as always for Trish, Germaine, Arthur, T, Pri, Missy, Rach and for Lynn's husband.
I hope everyone has a fabulous Wednesday and that you get the chance to spend time doing the things you love – with those you love the most.
Hugs
Jaydee

Beautiful! Looks like that flower is popping right out of the ribbon. So pretty and I DO love the clean and simple look.
Thanks for everyone’s thoughts and prayers for Jim (hubby). I really appreciate it.

Great card, Jaydee. Love your cutting of the flowers–really pops against the lattice background. Cheers!
Oh my gosh! I just posted a PPA sneak peek using this set! I love the texture behind your image! Very, very pretty!
Super pretty Jaydee…love the texture as you say! HOT here too! Hottest day yet this year!
Hugs!
Lesley 🙂
Beautiful card – love the colours! Y’know, I’ve never thought to actually cut out those flowers; looks great!
Wonderful card Jaydee, glorious colors. I like that the flowers seem to be popping out from the ribbon. I also like that you cut out the flowers and popped them up. You always seem to give your cards that extra touch. I spent way to much time on the Link that you provided, several hours in fact. I envy you, all that cool, new SU stuff to go through, I wish I were a fly on your wall. hee, hee. Wonderful Lou for letting you be and making dinner, how great is that! Couldn’t ask for more. So you unmount your Stamps as soon as you get them, interesting, and very organized of you. Can you please give us a Tutorial on unmounting our Wooden Stamps? Thanks in advance.
My heartfelt Prayers to All in need, and Well Wishes for Everyone around. May you all be Blessed.
Cyber hugs to you Jaydee, Trish in Wisconsin
The daisies look great against the textured background!
So beautiful! The colours you’ve chosen are just glorious!
Like you, I grow an attachment to some of my retired stamps and will never part with them. I love the striking flowers against the white textured background! What a great card!
Sorry I’ve been MIA, I’ve been lucky to get here to peek at your amazing creations Jaydee, but the craziness of my life at the moment hasn’t allowed me to comment. (Vacation can’t come soon enough!)
Today’s card is fabulous! The fuzzy head of the flower against the lattice texture is perfect, I certainly wouldn’t have thought of that. Which of course is why you are Jaydee and I’m not! :0) I hope you enjoyed Lou’s dinner, even if it wasn’t Mushrooms a la Lou I’m sure it was wonderful. Your bounty from Saturday’s Farmer’s Market looked so yummy, a person would have to be a HORRIBLE cook to mess those goodies. Speaking of the Market…if you get there before me on Sat please leave me a few of those yellow cherry tomatoes! By the time I got there only the reds were left, not that they weren’t yummy.
Have fun with your new toys, and the beautiful deck. I can’t wait to see it all “decked” out!
To One and All, thoughts and prayers to you along with wishes for a great hump day.
Very lovely card. I’ve always admired that image but yet never purchased it. Great sentiment, too. It’s very humid here as well – 90’s today – almost hard to breathe when you get out in it.
Inspired by Nature is one of my fav stamps!! Love your card Jaydee, it just pops & says “WOW”.
These are the days I DON’T like my curly hair!
LOL. Can’t wait until the humidity leaves us. At least we don’t have the temps in the 100°’s like the east coast. Stay cool & dry 🙂 Beth
Happy looking card Jaydee, I too love my old stamps, and this one is one of my fav ones! I have been a bit down today, as I couldn’t deal with the pain!! so I have been pretty quite! but to keep my spirits up, have been blog hopping! Nice of Lou to cook your dinner – Chris too cooks dinner every weekend! I am so envious of your new catalogue, hope we get some new stuff in ours here in England!! Have fun with your new goodies, and I will be back soon!
Hugs and prayers to all and special hugs to Trish and Missy!! Bye for now! Hugs always! G
Inspired by Nature is one of my go-to sets. I just LOVE it! I’ve never cut it out before and love what you have done with it. Now that they’ve retired my Garden Green and Summer Sun, I’ll have to work with the More Mustard and Old Olive. They work beautifully with the set. :o)
I hear you on the frizzy hair. My curls are nothing but FRIZZ. :sigh: It’s currently 111 degrees (yes, you read that right) and SO humid here in Williamsburg. I’m feeling beyond sorry for all the folks here on vacation. You see, I can hide out at home (watching the Germany/Spain match), but they’ve paid for tickets to the local attractions and won’t want to waste their money. It is seriously BRUTAL here. :o(
I’m on tenterhooks awaiting my new goodies so I’m insanely jealous you have yours. :oP Enjoy your play time. That Lou is most definitely a keeper.
HUGS!!
What a beautiful card!
I just got my first batch of my SU order (ordered from the old catalog) and am not so patiently waiting for my order with the new colors! I love the old sets too and have many that I have picked up at garage sales.
It is hot in Ohio too-our poor grass, we need rain!
oh so pretty! I love inspired by nature too! I seen a card awhile back where they used this set and cracked glass! It was beautiful like this card but I don’t know where I saw it at! I actually used the weeds from this set for my Father’s Day cards!
Prayers to all my cyber friends! Hope everyone is doing great! I love to read all your comments! And thank you all for your prayers! I really appreciate it!
