Sneak Peek – Cobbler Quotes

Hi Everyone.

Very quick post for you tonight.  The Clean and Simple challenge on splitcoast was to create a CAS card that highlighted the sentiment.  With the new sentiments from the Occasional Quotes – level 3 hostess set, I knew exactly what I wanted to do.  And what color I wanted to use! 🙂

I love – if you will excuse the pun – this sentiment.  It's great for outside a card like this, or inside a card.  It's versatile for anniversary, wedding or valentine cards.

The picture is looking really odd.  So I am going to have to come back and republish it from my other pc.  mmmm…. very peculiar….. mmm tried fixing it… not sure if it looks any better:-)

Anyway, you can see that I used Cherry Cobbler – love this red and Whisper White.  I stamped the background with the En Francais background stamp in Versamark and then used the polka dot heart from the I Heart Heart set, which has made it from the Spring Mini into the 2010/2011 IB&C.  I inked up the heart with my Cherry Cobbler ink and did the same with the sentiment.

Prayers for a few of you tonight, Trish and Germaine continue to be on the prayer list and prayers also to Lynn and Beth.

We finally managed to sit on our deck tonight.  It was cold this morning, hot and humid this afternoon and cool again this evening.  But still beautiful enough to sit outside and enjoy our new space.  Tomorrow we are off to buy the accoutrement and start to dress it up a little.    We can't wait.  The wildlife is already starting to appreciate the new deck.  I went to make tea this afternoon and found a baby rabbit – and I mean he was a leeeeeetle thing, sniffing around the chair.  The new steps are wide and not very high, which means its easy for the little critters to get on and off the deck.

I also got to watch the last 20 minutes of South Africa playing Mexico in the opening match of the world cup of soccer tonight.  Africa is a truly amazing continent, and the country of South Africa a truly amazing place.  It is a country of contradictions, incredible natural beauty, home of the most beautiful city in the world (Cape Town, in case you were wondering :-)) and some of the friendliest people you will ever meet.  The South Africans are very easy to laughter and I am so pleased that the World Cup could come to inject needed funds into the country.  How sad for Mandela though that his great-granddaughter was killed in a motor accident yesterday.  My heart goes out to Madiba.  He certainly would have been very proud of South Africa's team today.  If you have never seen the movie Invictus, I'd recommend it.  It is a true story of how Mandela took one of the emblems of white supremacy – the rugby Springboks and made them a symbol of South African unity.  A truly amazing man.

Before I go – a shout out tonight to Chris in Calgary, who sent me the sweetest email.  Thank you, Chris – and welcome to the blog family.

Now…. I have one final thing for you tonight… oh boy…. this is really worth clicking to another link for.  I found this card by Diane in the UK as I looked at a couple of cards on a challenge site.  You HAVE to see this card.  It truly is a masterpiece.  Here's Diane's Decoupage Flowers in a Vase card.  I don't know Diane, but I think she may appreciate a little love in her comment box if you love the card as much as I do. :-)  Let me know what you thought of it.

Don't forget – its the Paper Players second challenge on Sunday.  Lesley will be announcing the winner of challenge number 1 on Sunday, too.

As always, thank you so much for spending time in my little area of the stamping blogosphere.  Your visits and your support are much appreciated.

Hugs to you all
Jaydee

  1. Stunning Jaydee! Love it! Love that cherry cobbler! I think it will be one of my favorites! Sending great big hugs & prayers to who all are in need! Thanks Jaydee for keeping us posted on our “cyber family”!

  2. I love the new Cherry Cobbler! It is such a beautiful color of red! Great job focusing on the sentiment! And the Decoupage Flowers in a Vase was stunning! Thanks for letting us know about it!

  3. Wonderfully simple, yet elegant card tonight, Jaycee. I really am loving that Cherry Cobbler new red. Can you believe that I haven’t even cut into a piece of mine yet? I really like the En Francaise Background Stamp, that Stamp is so versitile in so many ways, and adds so much interest to a card. Arent’ those Sentiments just the greatest. I finally got my order today. Yeah! will break it open tomorrow and take a good long look at everything. I am already drooling. I did pull out the Catty. Very nicely done. Just like your card for today. Thanks for sending me to Diane’s Site, I really enjoyed looking around and spending some time there. I can remember doing Decoupage back in the 80’s, but never as intricate as Diane has done with her cards. Truly a talented woman. I am sending much needed Good Thoughts and Prayers to anyone and Everyone that needs them. We all have little road bumps in our journey of life. This is about all the time I have for today, 30 minutes and I am pooped. Should get better by Sunday though. A great weekend to be had by all.
    Cyber hugs, Trish in Wisconsin

  4. Love that card! I can’t wait for the new catty. New colors, clear mounts, and the list keeps growing…
Did you get a picture of your baby bunny? I can never seem to get pics of all that stuff. I never want to take the time to go get the camera because I’m afraid I’ll miss seeing them and they’ll be gone when I get back.

  5. Beautiful card – can’t wait to get some of the Cherry Cobbler cardstock – all of the demos are raving about it. We used to have rabbits, here, but I think the foxes must have taken care of them because we no longer see them. The babies are always so sweet. Here, the mother makes a hole in the ground and fills it with the new babies and then covers it with dried grass. Enjoy your deck.

  6. Bafana Bafana!
Wonderful CAS card Jaydee. I really like quote as well, I know now that I MUST have a level 3 workshop and earn that set. And I really can not wait to get my grubby little hands on some Cherry Cobbler. (card stock that is, though the dessert doesn’t sound so bad right now either!)
Thanks for sharing the link to Diane’s card, WOW, the work that went into that is amazing.
Have a very happy weekend One & All, hope you get a chance to spend some time with loved ones, doing what you love. Me, I’m going to be cheering on my DD as she runs her first 5K. I’m soooo proud of her!

  7. I love your card today-simple and yet beautiful! I think it will be fun to get new colors, although there are a few colors I will be sad to see go.
Diane’s card is incredible! Just beautiful!
I actually got some stampin time today to make cards for the card drive. Now if I can just make a few more…

  8. I would just like to thank you all so much for the lovely comments about my Flower Vase decoupage card… I really enjoyed making my card and your comments are very much appreciated.
    Thanks again.
