Hi everyone. Happy Friday night. Sorry my post is late tonight, but you can blame Brenda and Cherie for that:-)
Tonight's card is very different for me. The challenge was to create a clean and simple card with a water theme. Mmmm… I didn't have any stamps that really fit the bill, so I decided to improvise.
I used one of the quotes from the new sets in the Summer catty called "Occasional Quotes". It's a really cool set and one that I know will get lots of use in my stamping space.
I love water lilies and have always been in awe of Monet's paintings of his pond. When I was in Mauritius many, many years ago, I was amazed to visit the botanical gardens there and find that the water lilies were so big that they are up to 3 meters in diameter. Can you imagine, a lily pad 9 feet in diameter! They are absolutely amazing…. anyway, I digress.
I used the technique that you have seen me use before – my stylus and some vellum. I dry embossed the lily pad and then three layers of flowers and the stamen. Using my stylus, I stretched the vellum and then colored the underneath of the pad and flowers.
To make the pond, I cut out a rectangle with my nesties and then used my inks and a sponge dauber. I used Marina Mist, Baja Breeze, Not Quite Navy and Bashful Blue for the water. Now, I realize how great the color renovation was, because the colors really worked beautifully together.
For the lily pad, I used Pear Pizzazz (oh, yes… it's going to be one of my favorite colors) and Old Olive for the veining.
the flowers were colored with Whisper White and Pixie Pink water color crayon.
This technique is really relaxing and doesn't take anywhere near as long as you would think to do.
Anyway, I was really pleased with the card. I did try it on a different color background …here it is on Pear Pizzazz
I really like them both…..
On the personal front, I haven't had much time to play with my new goodies yet…. but am hoping to get some time tomorrow after a trip to the farmer's market. I am never sure who enjoys getting an SU box more – me or Bailey. He loves it when I open the box and pull out the brown packaging paper. It's his favorite toy. We leave it out for about a week and he and the others will play amongst the paper, chasing each other, playing ball and playing hide and seek.
Yesterday, I was at my desk in the office and looked over and this is what I saw….
Seriously…. couldn't he find a more comfortable place to sleep… I mean…really… It's not as though we don't provide comfortable places for the cats. Just to prove that point – here was Chester – one of our rescue cats sleeping on his favorite spot. This photograph was taken at the same time as Bailey's.
Don't know about you…. but I think a comfy couch with an uber comfy blanket is probably a little more… well… comfy – than the SU packing paper!
REMINDER:……. SUNDAY… is the first of the Paper Player's challenges. We'd really like you to play along. So, get ready to come and help us by playing along. I'll have a reminder and a link tomorrow for you.
Tomorrow, I get to spend more quality time with Cherie and Brenda. We will be having snacks on our almost complete deck and spending time looking through the new catalog!
As always, thank you so much to all of you for spending time in my little area of the stamping blogosphere. Your visit and your support is really greatly appreciated.
Have a fabulous Saturday – filled with love, laughter and time with those you love
Jaydee

Very creative! I love both of them, but the one with the Pear Pizzazz is my favorite! Thanks for sharing the Bailey and Chester pictures…too cute!
I must admit, I am in awe…very exquisite cards! I don’t know which one I prefer, but I do know that I love that Lily Pad and Flower. I have always been amused by Lily Pads and how they managed to stay afloat and get so large. I watched a documentary not too long ago, where it is all the rage I think in Japan, to have your Child, Baby, or Self if you don’t weigh too much, photographed on top of giant Lily Pads. They grew these Lily Pads just for this purpose in special ponds and perfect conditions so that they would grow to thier ultimate width. These Lily Pads where huge! A person, usually a man would be in the water, only about 2 feet deep, and the Parents would hand off the Baby or Child to the man who would gently place them on the best part of the Lily Pad. Then the Parents would go ahead and snap however many pictures they could in the time allowed. It was really fascinating to see this. There was one very tiny young woman, all dressed up to be Married and she was placed on a Lily Pad. Just thought you might want to know this info.
You have absolutely nailed the Lily Pad right on the head for your Card. Super fantastic job, Girlfriend! I am so proud of what you have done to this Card. If I had this Card it would definitely get matted and framed for the wall or display. I really do think that it is that nice.
I too am in love with the Pear Pizzaz. I liked it the minute that I saw it. I can’t wait for my order to arrive because that is the first color that I am going to pair up with another color that is one of my new favorites, but I will keep it a secret for now, and start making Cards for the Troops with. I just hope that I have some ribbon in my stash that matches those colors, because I overspent and didn’t have anything left to buy ribbon with.
I am jealous of you, Brenda, and Cherie…I want to be with you sharing in the fun and good times and laughter. I can just imagine what is going on over there. Anyway, it makes me feel happy to know that you are all having a wonderful time with the New Catty, and each other’s company. It must be a wonderful feeling to be out on the partially finished New Deck. I bet it feels really good, and to be able to share it with friends is even better. I will make my way up there one day yet. That is my goal at the end of this journey I am on.
Thanks for sharing the Kitty Pics, you know how I love seeing them. Bailey is just too much for words, just like Magic used to be. I wonder if it is in that breed? There is so much similarity between them, I must find a picture and show it to you.
Tomorrow I am going to get my hair “buzzed”. I have been crying for the past few days every time I comb my hair or wash it, tons of it comes out. I really didn’t think I would get this emotional over hair. It is everywhere, on the floor, on my clothes, in the van, on the furniture, and even in the Cat’s water bowl. Yuck! I am tired of picking up hair!!! It will probably all be gone by the end of next week, so I am just making it easier on myself. Please say a Prayer for me…I don’t want to do this. I don’t want to lose my beautiful long hair. I won’t have anymore ponytails. Well, that’s enough of that, ‘cuz now I am sobbing.
I Pray that Everyone including you, Jaydee has a wonderful Weekend, filled with things and people you love. I Pray that those that are sick or in pain may feel a bit of ease and be better at least for awhile. I wish you All the best that Life can bring, may you hear the birds singing, and smell the freshness of the rain. Be thankful for what we all have and Pray for the less fortunate and those displaced and hungry.
Please forgive me, I didn’t mean to ramble on…it must have something to do with the fact that I haven’t slept in 3 days. I am so very tired and worn out. Will try to check in tomorrow.
Cyber hugs to All and Jaydee, Trish in Wisconsin
What a beautiful technique – both cards are so pretty. Lovely design. I’m with the cats – love naps!
LOVELY lily pads!! I really hate that they got rid of THIRTY colors…I was around the last time they got rid of colors and wasn’t crazy about that…but THIRTY??? anyway…the pear does look nice. Did you use direct to paper a brush or marker or what on the vellum?
I am no longer a demo, but I get boxes with the paper from time to time…
and my new kitten (along with my other female) both love the paper that comes in the SU boxes. The kitten plays and plays and plays with it and in it.

Jaydee! I think these 2 are my all time favorites! Or at least in the top 5! They are absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Like Trish-I think I would frame these! I really would! They both are gorgeous! And the kitties are too! They look so relaxed!
Trish- I always keep you in my thoughts & Prayers. I’m sure you will still be beautiful without it! But I can’t imgaine how hard it is to lose it! You are so brave & courageous! I am amazed by YOU! (My HERO!) Hang in there you are awesome! Love reading your comments!
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
I’m not sure what I like more….Your card (which is unbelievable BEAUTIFUL) or…Chester and Bailey. I would say they have good taste by falling asleep on the SU packing paper. Many THANKS Jaydee for sharing today.
Also can’t believe how many visitors I’ve had at my blog over the last couple of days. Your link to my blog was truly an amazing thing for you to do – and I thank you so very much for your kindness. I even received SEVERAL followers who have signed up to receive daily updates from my blog……something that I never would have happened without your linking me to your blog. Thank You Jaydee – you are truly an amazing lady.
TRISH: I so wish you lived on this side of Wisconsin, so you could come play with us too. We’re your ears ringing last night? We were discussing how increadibly strong you are and how connected we feel to you. You can do this! I can’t imagine how hard it must be to have to go for your “buzz”, but just think of all of the cute hats you can wear now, and how the heat and humidity of the Midwest summers won’t be such a burden. :0) My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Jaydee, the card is stunning, I have to agree that it’s amongst my top favs as well. I CAN NOT wait to come over tonight and see that new catty. Oh, yeah, to see you Lou and the furballs as well!
