Thanks so Much

Hi Everyone.  Happy Thursday night.

Tonight's card is dedicated to all of amazing readers.  I was so amazed at your comments today.  I mean, I'm always amazed and grateful…. but today, so many of you left me the most amazing comments.  They REALLY warmed my heart.  So… thanks so much to all of you.  It really does mean a great deal.

Tonight's card uses one of my favorite stamps – the flower set from Close as a Memory.  There's something about this flower set that really appeals to me.  So, even if it does retire, I'm going to carry right on using it!  I made this card a couple of weeks ago for a stamping411 challenge, but didn't get time to load it.

It uses a color combination I haven't tried before – Not Quite Navy and Baja Breeze.  They are really fabulous together, now I'm pleased that NQN is staying around!  Mind you, I am really pleased that Baja Breeze is coming back.  Didn't I say that last night, too.  For some reason, it must be a blue card week!

I used my nestabilites for the ovals.  For the top oval, I actually cut two, one in Baja Breeze and one in Not Quite Navy.  I then cut them in the middle and joined the two halves together – one from each color.

I pulled some paper out from one of the DSP packs I bought on the clearance rack – the paper is Green Tea.  Now, I'm wishing I bought more of it!  I've heard that the new DSPs are gorgeous BTW….

I used my paper snips to cut out the flowers and then used Crystal Effects on the flowers and the leaves to give them shine and dimension.

Of course, I had to add some pearls into the middle of the flowers.  Here's a closeup for you.

I love the effect the Crystal Effects gives.

I mounted the snipped flowers onto dimensionals.  However, I only glued the stems.  I wanted just the flowers to have the dimension.  I also love the embossing on the ovals.

Don't you love the fact that the round dots on the paper matches the round dots on the background card stock, which matches the round dots of the pearls on the flowers:-)

We are still cleaning…. yep!  The pic below was taken when we were half way through sorting out the cupboard in the basement.  You can see many books and videos on the table being made ready to go to the library.  Let's play SPOT BAILEY!  That silly red cat is into everything.  Can you see him amongst this mess?

Spotbailey

Yes… he was very happy thank you….

Doesn't he look happy and contented?  He really is a pretty amazing cat.  Oh, and he's pretty, too!

It was a beautiful day here today.  I also got the chance to spend a couple of quality hours with Brenda, who took some time out of her day to meet me for lunch.  It was a wonderful break, spent in wonderful company.  Cherie, sorry you couldn't join us – but I am thinking about you and praying for you.  I hope you both have a fabulous run at your half on Sunday, too!

Trish, Brenda and I spoke about you today, too.  I don't know if you are managing to read my blog, but know that we are there with you in spirit and prayers.

Germaine, I'm so pleased that I am not the only one who is green with envy!  I do hope you are continuing to feel a little better.  Beth, I hope you have a fabulous time in the Smokey Mountains.  Adelle… enjoy cleaning out the garage.  I'll be with you in spirit as we continue to do the same 🙂

To everyone else, thank you again for all your wonderful comments.  I hope you all have a fabulous Friday filled with love, laughter and time spent doing the things you love, with those you love the most.  If any of you are traveling for the long weekend, have a very safe journey.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Beautiful card. Love that color combination. I especially love the pearls!
Can’t clean out the garage yet because it is raining. Oh my gosh it never rains like this in California. We have had a whole week of wet weather. I so do want to move everything out and start fresh!

  2. I looked at that first photo and could not spot your sweet kitty! The second photo made me laugh, I should have looked in the box! So cute! This card is gorgeous! I LOVE the colour combo! I don’t think NQN is retiring…is it? I thought SU was keeping both Navy colours! I sure hope so!
    Smiles,
    Lesley 🙂

  3. Lesley.. you are RIGHT… it isn’t retiring! I’ve obviously been inhaling too many cleaning materials.
    Thanks for reminding me!

  4. Jaydee, I really haven’t been much of a “blues” fan but you have motivated me out of my comfort zone of browns and pinks. I’m really going to use more Blue, especially as I was fond of the Baja Breeze used with , of course, my brown fetish!!lol!!
    Keep inspiring!

  5. I love this color combo! I wouldn’t have thought of these 2 colors together! The card is beautiful! The pearls are so pretty on the flowers! And that Bailey sure is beautiful too! She does look content and happy! I love this card Jaydee! But wait I love all your cards!

  6. Love the Baja and Not Quite Navy together! Thanks for opening my eyes to a new color combo! Of course, when I retire in just four more school days…I have the entire house ahead of me to clean. It is going to be “purge, purge, purge”!

  7. Jaydee, I have never commented before but had to on this card. It is truly lovely and I can’t wait to make one. Have you ever worked all morning on one part of a card with intricate cutting, then because you were distracted forgot to elevate the major part that you had just finished and just glued it down? It’s going that way, so there!
Your cleaning is an inspiration, I just may do some too.

  8. Beautiful! I can’t believe how much time and care you put into cutting out those flowers. I hope they are still around in the next catalog.
Trish, I am hoping and praying that this is a good day for you. We have been blessed by some gorgeous weather in the Midwest and I hope you have been able to enjoy some of it.
Thanks Jaydee for a fabulous afternoon yesterday and I hope to see you at the finish line on Sunday!

  9. So pretty! Love that color combo. I knew where to look for your kitty because it’s exactly where mine would be. LOL!!

  10. Fantastic card Jaydee, I honestly, think it’s one of my favorites. (Is THAT even possible? to choose just a few favs amongst all of your creations!) The polka-dots, pearls and Crystal Effects just do it for me.
Bailey is just too funny, I found him right away. You should maybe share with him that in order to play hide & seek properly he will need to trim his ear hair 😀 Thanks for the well wishes for Sunday, this is my favorite half and running it with my best friend and the other Chatty Chicks; what could be better? (Ok, don’t answer that one Jaydee I’m sure you’d make me think twice.) I hear that we may see you and Lou at the finish? I’d love it, and we can prove to Mr Jensen that you are real!
Trish & Germaine-hugs and prayers for you.
To One and All, have a fantastic Friday!

  11. Beautiful color combination, I don’t think that I would have put those two colors together, but you pulled it off very well. I like what you did with the ovals and the flowers in the middle. What patience to cut out those small flowers and stems! The Pearls once again look fabulous, Darling. I like what the Crystal Effects does on the flowers. Another winner, what can we say?
Thanks to Everyone for thinking about me, Good luck on your Run Cherie, Hope you all have fun at the Finish Line! Germaine, I continue to think of you and Pray for you, I do hope that you feel better soon. It is miserable to be in pain, I can surely attest to that. A wonderful Memorial Weekend wished to Everyone.
    Cyber hugs, Trish in Wisconsin
