Hi Everyone. Happy Saturday Night.
I did managed to get to spend a couple of hours in my stamping space today. However, I can honestly say, the mojo was flowing reaaaaaaalllllllllyyyyyyy slowly. I don't know what's going on right now, but getting inspired seems to be taking me longer than normal. It just seems that everything I do just doesn't make the grade. I pull things out and put things back and then mess around. Grrr… Anyway, I decided to go off and do my shopping and leave it. Once I had taken a break and come back, it was better. I really think I need my time off.
I usually only use the Metallic papers (they are still going to be available in the new catty!) at Christmas. I looked at the Sending Love Specialty DSP from the Spring mini and thought… mmmmm…. the two things together should look really lush.
I love the richness of the Real Red Satin ribbon, the textures and bling from the DSP and think that the metallic gold card stock works so well with it.
Here's a closeup. Here you can see the sheen on the metallic card stock, plus the glitter on the DSP. The satin ribbon, the metallic sheen card stock, the glitter on the paper and the pearl, all add up to an expensive looking card.
Of course, I had to use my Beautiful Wings embosslit and decided to use the same DSP to keep the whole thing tied together. I messed around with both butterflies and couldn't make up my mind whether to use the pink side or the red/pink side. In the end, I actually preferred the red/pink. Why? Because it allowed the focus to remain on the sentiment. When I turned the butterflies around and they were pink – it made the card all about the butterflies, and I didn't want that.
It really is beautiful in real life. I love this metallic card stock. It's perfect for special cards. The layout is one that you have seen me use before, too. It's one of my fall to layouts.
On a personal note…. well… many of you read the trials and tribulations of my traveling husband and how often he gets stuck in an airport. (Well.. that happens just about every time he flies these days!) He got stuck in Amsterdam on his way to Malaysia and, if wind does change direction, then the Icelandic volcano is likely to get him stuck either in Malaysia or in Amsterdam! The European weather agencies are saying that the wind is changing direction and is likely to disrupt traffic starting tomorrow. Mmmmm.. Looks like I might be having my vacation on my own!
It was a beautiful day here. Another day of sunshine and slightly warmer temperatures. We are getting ready to redo our deck and will be adding a screened in gazebo. Last week I didn't think about it at all… the weather just wasn't conducive. However, being out in the garden today… now I'm thinking about getting it started and how great it will be.
Oh… and just a couple more weeks before the design team and challenge site starts up. I received details on naming, the types of challenges, etc. and it promises to be a great deal of fun. There will be four of us in the design team and I can promise you that there are some amazingly talented women that I will be designing with. The person setting up the site invited 3 of us to join her and we all have very different styles. So, as soon as she gives me permission and everything is set up, I'll be giving you some details. I do hope you will join us and play along.
New catty: The new catty goes live on July 5. I'm much more excited about this year's catty than I was last year's. I love the new colors, the expanded embellishments, new punch styles, etc. Remember to talk with your demo about getting your own copy of the catalog. We have heard that it is 16 pages bigger than last year. Oh yeah…. 224 pages of fabulous stuff!!!
Tonight I would like to give a shout out to Adelle. Adelle is such an amazing person and I love that I have gotten to "meet" her via my blog. Adelle – thank you and I hope you are getting some use out of your pearls!
As always, thank you for spending time in my little area of the stamping blogosphere. For those of you who visited my post last night and couldn't find the fairy in our garden…. thanks to Doris for pointing that out…. I realized I had forgotten to add one of the pics. So went back and added it. Now Iolanthe has been revealed!
Hugs to you all and have a fabulous Sunday
Jaydee

Very pretty card Jaydee! I love that paper and colors!
I hope Lou gets home safely and before your vacation is over!
Thanks for updating us on the catty! I can’t wait to see it! I also can’t wait to see what creations you and the design team come up with! I am sure it will be awesome cards!
Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!
Very pretty! I love the metallic card stock with the red! I will be anxious to hear the details about your new challenge blog. Now that there are only 14 more school days until my retirement, I am getting ready to hit the challenges!
Beautiful card. Isn’t quality ribbon so wonderful? Looking forward to seeing SU’s new stuff.
Thanks for the shout out.I have really enjoyed getting to know you. it’s exciting to tell everyone I have a cyber friend. I spent an hour tonight trying to order some more pearls. Yes I “need” more pearls. I will get my daughter to help me figure out how to order online. I am slowly coming into the new century with technology. Watch out Joe (husband). I am learning how to use my debit card online!!!!
I love this card. The colors are so rich. And of course the pearls are beautiful.
Beeeeauuuuutiful Card, Jaydee.I love the Butterfly in the same DSP as the Card. I think that you are right, that it would detract from the sentiment if it were in another color. I really like the way you did the sentiment on the Banner, looks totally cool, and the tiny Butterfly perched on the end looks so sweet. The Red against the Gold looks smashing. It’s a really rich looking card and I think that the Ribbon makes that happen. I just am in love with the New Satin Ribbon’s SU! is offering. I do hope that they are part of the New Catty. Have you already seen the New Catty? You speak as if you have. I am placing an order on the first day that I am able, so that I will get the New Catty, I won’t have it Overnighted though like some people do. Just too much moola for me. I feel so sad for Lou. I know that an awful lot of travelers have been affected by the Volcano. We see it on the News every day. I do hope that you don’t have to vacation alone and that Lou will be able to find his way home somehow, someway. I will Pray for Him to have To have Safe Travels, and quick one’s also. What a bummer for you to have to hear such news. Keep your chin up, I am sure he will make it home in time to spend some time with you and help around the house. I too, am in the market for some Pearls, if anyone has a good source, would you please give me the link. I just can’t seem to find the colors that I want and need. Thanks in advance. Jaydee, you are just an awesome person with your Blog. You help out so many people in so many different ways. If I had an award, I would give it to you. Maybe when I start a Blog I can find you one. You truly do deserve the “Best Friend Blogger Award”. You make so many people feel better on a daily basis, and bring sunshine into thier lives. You are a remarkable person in my book. I thank you for keeping up your Blog. I look forward to it every day, even if I don’t comment I still read it. My days wouldn’t be complete without first stopping at this Blog for some inspiration and little tid bits about life, and cats. Thank you so much.
Cyber Hugs, Trish in Wisconsin
Beautiful card Jaydee! I learn so much from your blog-thanks for all your help!
I rarely use the metallic cardstock, sometimes as little accents, but not as the background. It looked like it was the kraft color at first glance. In the second picture I could see it better. Great combination of colors and bling! I sure hope Lou gets home to enjoy some vacation time with you. Have a great day!
Hi all! Jaydee, I love your card today! I have way too much of all that gorgeous DSP paper that I can never seem to use. Somehow I’m DSP challenged! LOL! This layout has inspired me to try again. I love the look but mine seem to fall “flat”.
Sounds like everyone is doing well except you must get lonely sometimes without your DH.
Nice post from Trish, hope she’s feeling OK.
Adelle gave me a good giggle, my debit card gets nervous when it hears the computer turn on…
And I’m a little (OK< a lot) jealous of Ann who is retiring. My Mom resisted retiring for a long time but now she is happier than I have ever seen her. Like Sue and Missy I can't wait to see the new catty! I "need" (yeah right) more ribbon. Did I mention that I can't wait to see the new ribbon? LOL! Anyway, You are my first stop of the day. By far my favorite. Love your work, your insights and hearing from your other commenter's. Have a super day everybody!!!!!
I was worried about that volcano again. I hope Lou gets home safely. Bethany and I had a great time with you on Friday. The turtle rescue story was even better in person. Now if I can only get Lou’s version of it!
The half marathon in Green Bay was incredible, especially running through the player’s tunnel and around Lambeau Field. Cherie is such a trooper. She wasn’t feeling well and still gave it her all. Our two beginning runners finished with huge smiles on their faces and we adopted a new Chatty Chick into the flock for the race. It was a fabulous day.
Thanks for you well wishes and for sharing the beautiful work that you do!
