Tea for Three for Paper Players #702

Happy Sunday.

It's the fabulous Jan's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a fabulous color combo for us.  Her color choices really made me ink up way outside of my normal and I so enjoyed playing with this sherbet'y colors.

It gave me the perfect excuse to use some dies I bought a while ago from Alexandra Renke called… and it's so original – but descriptive…. Teacup 1 and Teacup 2!  I paired that with my old standby stencil Knitwit from The Greetery.

Here's a sneak peek:

I just love those little teabags!  They are from another die-set from Alexandra Renke called Tea for 2.

Oh… and here's Jan's challenge:

I began  by using some paste on my Knit Wits stencil to create the background. I then die-cut the teacups and smooshed them into some watercolor paints.  I let them dry and then stacked them up and added the teabags and sentiment.   Easy peasy.

Here's my full card:

As we generally allow neutrals on our color challenges I used a pale brown for the teabags and a mid brown for the sentiment.  For the tag, I used the three colors to add a little more color using the same knitwit stencil.

I hope you will join us and play along this week.  We would love to see what you create with these fun colors.  As always the design team have some fabulous inspiration for you:

On a personal note:

We closed on our new home yesterday and it was wonderful sitting on the deck listening to the chickadees and the goldfinches whilst we ate our Starbucks breakfast.  I'm going to miss being up in the clouds and the incredible view that we have, but being so close to the ground and smelling the damp earth whilst listening to the birds really calmed my soul.

This week I have spent time trying to find replacements for some of the light fittings that are in the house.  It's amazing how personal light fitting choices can be.

For instance…. these lights in the loft area remind me of eyes out on stalks in an animated movie aka Tom and Jerry.  Here's a look at what I mean.  Once I sat down and saw these fairly innoculous lights as eyeballs…. I just got obsessed with changing them out.  They don't look that bad until you see them from below in the living room!

Yep….  you can imagine what they look like from below!  So, those definitely have to go.  The house is fabulous and they did a really amazing job of renovating, but some things are personal choice – and lighting is definitely one of those things.  I finally found replacements and those are on order!  We are also replacing the major appliances and we had incredible fun finding new ones.

Even though I am definitely not looking forward to packing, I am looking forward to being in the new house and I think the cats will love the sun room and being so close to nature.

I will be back on Friday with my Festive Friday card.  If I can, I will stop in with another post.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Jaydee, I LOVE this card! I wish I’d made it. The teacups, with their cute tea bags are gorgeous. Of course, I love textured backgrounds and yours is fabulous. Then of course, there’s that teabag shaped label those cups are sitting on! 🙂

  2. I love your card! Probably because I love all things related to tea! The stenciled background with the paste gives it a bit of a distressed look that I like. Have fun moving (I’m sure that’s possible, right?!) and enjoy setting up at your new digs!

  3. This week I am loving Dragonflies and teacups! I think I have to revisit these elements… it has been awhile. Jaydee, love your sweet card! I am so excited for you… and am really looking forward to pics of the sunroom. Have fun.

  4. The stacked tea cups are so sweet, Jaydee and I too love the little tea bags! The background texture is just WOW even while remaining subtle. Love this!
So happy for you to have found a nice home in such short order. And I agree, the eyeballs, aawck! Best of luck with the packing and the move!

  5. Jaydee, I am so happy for you but, I know packing and moving is a pain.
Your little teacups are precious! I know how much you love tea. This is the perfect card for these colors! Have a great weekend!

  6. What amazing teacups, Jaydee! I would love to drink my English Breakfast from these any day. What a perfect way to use the challenge colors! And yep…now that you mentioned it, those lights do indeed look like cartoon eyeballs. I can’t wait to see what you select as replacements. Have a wonderful weekend!
