Little Karoo – Talking with the animals

Hi Everyone.  Happy Thursday and welcome to Jaydee's SU stamping spot.  No cards for you tonight – but I had promised some pics of our trip into the game reserve – and here are a couple for you.

Before I share some pics of our retreat in the game reserve, I wanted to give a big shout out to a couple of people.  To Suzie and Karen – who I know will be visiting – you are both amazing – and thank you!  Also, to Cherie – I took some pics – just for you!  Friends are an amazing resource for all of us, and I am lucky to be blessed with some people that I have known for decades – or for a very short time – and still feel an immense sense of connection and comfort every time I see them.  Suzie – you have no idea how much I have missed you and I think you and "M" will be so happy together.  Karen, you will always be a part of my life – in just the same way as you have for 20 years and "Baby G" is lucky to have you both as parents!  Cherie, you have no idea how many times I thought about you on this trip!

So… on to some pics of our trip to the reserve in the Little Karoo – pronounced Little (…. you could have guessed that one, right? 🙂 Car-roor.  It's a semi-desert area in the Western Cape.  It's a phenomenal area of scrub land where the mornings and nights are very cool and the days really warm.  We visited a  reserve there and had a phenomenal time.  Not a lot of game – a semi-desert area can't take a lot of game… but the sightings were amazing.  The skies were incredible.  I wish I'd taken a pic of the skies…..

I'm nuts about a bath… and the bathroom at the lodge was phenomenal…. but maybe not as phenomenal as the views.  We had a lodge tent…. a tent like no other I've ever spent time in, I can tell you!  So here's the bath… I've made it so that you can blow up the pic

Bath Ok….. so this was the view from the bath… you can see the tent above us… man… I've never had a bath this amazing – and considering it was in a tent… wow…. the doors opened up completely to the night air and the night sounds.  Absolutely fabulous.  and yes, that ridiculous looking foot is mine.  I mean… I couldn't take a picture of the view from the bath without sitting in it now, could I? 🙂

The next pic is the deck.  We spent many happy hours just sitting on the deck watching the black eagle chic learning how to fly.  the black eagles are beautiful birds and there was a nesting pair just above us on the ridge.  the fledgling was very hesitant about jumping off the ledge and the parents were very attentive.  i think it was much like sending your children out to the their first day of school… or the first time they take out your car without you being with them!  I must admit he was very slow about picking up his landing gear and it was fun to watch him trying to make a decision to jump off the ledge 🙂

Tent

I'm going to leave you with one last picture for tonight… I promise I'll put the pictures of the cats.. yes. plural, tomorrow night 🙂

This one is for you, Cherie.  In fact, as I took the picture – I said… this is for you, Cherie. 🙂

As always, thank you for spending time in my little area of the stamping blogosphere.  Your visits are always very much appreciated. I hope you have a fabulous Thursday filled with time doing the things you love doing – with those you love the most – either two legged or four legged.  I must admit we can't wait to get home to our kitties.

Peace

jaydee
