Hi Everyone. Happy Wednesday and welcome to Jaydee's SU stamping spot!
Tonight will be a quick post. A quick reminder. If you are interested in free Stampin' Up! goodies – then click here to see how to play along for some great Blog Candy. Winners will be chosen using a random generator on Monday morning 10/5. I promise the blog candy is definitely worth it 🙂
Tonight's card is quick, simple and easy to put together. But, I think it has enough detail to give a little zing.. but then I would – cos I'm biased 🙂 Me… nah… never 🙂
I wanted to use the Christmas Jingle Simply Scrappin'. I love this scrapping set – but I'm just not a great scrapbooker. In fact I found some of my old pages tonight – it was an interesting trip down memory lane. I realized that maybe the pages aren't so bad… but what I remember looking at them… is that I never seemed to have the right color papers with the right embellishments.
Now, for those of you who visit my stamping space, you know that I don't do the "hard sell" approach. It's not my style – I love to share what I do.. and if you want to buy from me.. then that is fantastic.. but if you just want to hang out and get inspiration… then that's also cool…. so I can tell you, with all honesty, that I have been much more productive since I changed over to SU. I have card stock that matches paper…. that matches ink…. that matches embellishments… that matches ribbon – and it's all fantastic quality. I used to spend so much time running to my local scrapping store and could never quite find exactly what I was looking for… and my pages reflect that. They aren't bad… but I know that I could do better with them now.
That being said… here's the clean and simple card I wanted to create. I love – absolutely love the new grosgrain polka dot ribbon and wanted to show case that – along with the texturz polka dot embossing plate for my Big Shot. I love my Big Shot – it's easy, quick and I use it frequently. I also wanted something that I could create many Christmas cards of in a very short amount of time.
Jaydee tips:
- Repetition in threes is a good thing: there are three lots of dots… along the sentiment, on the background and in the ribbon. Doing anything in odd numbers gives a balance to something. You can see that there are also three ornaments and three colors + a neutral.
- To get the background embossed dots to pop a little – rub over them with a sanding block or a piece of sandpaper. (Some of you already know that, because you have used that technique before – or seen me talk about it… so hang in there whilst I share this knowledge with those that might not have used the Big Shot and the embossing plates before :-))
- The other thing – you can use your My Digital Studio – GOING LIVE TOMORROW!!!!! – and print out multiples of them – and then just add the ribbon or other embellishments to make that printed project look more hand made.
I have so many cards to make…. and almost no time to do them… it's so frustrating and I swear I get really crabby when I can't find my creative release.
I hope you all have a fabulous Thursday – and please… go check out the My Digital Studio. You can see the video at this link and you can see a couple of the projects I made here on my blog. I'm really excited about it and am hoping to get the first of my coffee table travel books finished in the next two weeks (you can see the start of it on my link).
And… don't forget – free SU goodies up for grabs including some of the ribbon used on this card, in-color card stock and ribbon, stamp sets, etc. All for one lucky person.
As always, thank you for stopping by and spending time in my little area of the stamping blogosphere. There are so many amazing and creative people who share their creations with you, that I am grateful that you chose to spend some time with me. Your visits, your comments and your business are much appreciated.
Peace and hugs
Jaydee
