Happy Sunday.
It's the fabulous Claire's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and it's theme week. The theme was perfect for a set of cards I was making for one of our local medical institutions that was holding a card drive. I used a card kit from Spellbinders called Sweet & Cool. I bought it on sale and noticed that they still have some in stock!
Here's a sneak peek of my card:
And here's Claire's theme:
I mean… what says summer time fun more than flip flops, surf boards, a bright beach hut, and a floatie 🙂
In addition to a new challenge this week, we also welcome three new permanent design team members. All of these fabulously talented ladies have been guest designers and I am delighted to have them back on the team. I hope you will pop by their blogs and welcome them. Eliz, Jen and Stef – it's wonderful to have you on the team.
Because I used the card kit, this card came together really easily. I used my Greetery Postage Frames for the base and then just layered the individual items from the kit onto it. I kept the background really neutral as I wanted the elements to be the focal point. Here's my card:
This card also marks one of the few times that I didn't use a white card base:-). Such a fun card kit.
You can check out the fabulous design from our design team on their blogs. We also hope that you will play along with our challenge, we would love to see what YOU create using Claire's theme.
On a personal note:
Well, I have managed to get some fabulous play time in my craft room these last couple of weeks and have made over 200 cards for charity. I love that the cards that I make go off to places like Ronald McDonald House and Gift of Life transplant house here in town. I get the chance to relax and to give someone the opportunity to reach out to a loved one. Win. Win.
Little Chilli continues to grow, he's put on about 69% of his initial body weight since we got him. He still has a long way to go to grow into his ears and his paws, but his tail has certainly grown. His tail is over 15" and is just starting to get it's floof.
It's been quite cold here – sometimes down into the low 60s. So, Chilli joined me on the recliner the other day for a quick cuddle
And it wasn't long before he had completed his pre-sleep ablutions and was quietly settled between my legs.
When we first got him, he filled only half of the cat bed on the window…… mmmm… I think we need a bigger bed!
The cats love sitting on these beds. We have them on the east and south facing windows so that they can follow the sun during the day. In the afternoon they all camp out in our bedroom where the afternoon sun comes streaming through 3 different windows. They definitely are heat seeking kitties!
I'll be back later in the week with some more cards. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee

Jaydee… the beach is what I love in the summer (actually all year where I live)! The sentiment is so fun! Thrilled to be working with you again. BTW… those cat beds are a hoot and a true cat luxury.
Jaydee, everything in your card shouts summer! I adore this fun beach scene so much! The colors are so soothing and that little beach hut with the shell on the door! Thank you for making my challenge shine! You are an angel to make all those cards for the children. Thank you!
Little Chilli is one lucky little kitty!
Your card is so much fun! I love all those seaside elements and the sentiment couldn’t have been better! I wish you could send us some of your 60 degree weather! We are sweltering here in PA!
You’re right, all the images on your card are so iconic for summer! They look fabulous layered on the postage stamp rectangle. It’s funny you mentioned using something other than a white card base as I find myself guilty of that so often. The blue works beautifully! Thanks for sharing pics of your sweet kitty, he looks so sweet!
I also meant to add that it’s wonderful to be part of the team again!
What a lovely kit! The colours just shout out summer. In New Zealand, we call flip-flops ‘jandals’. Thanks for the welcome to the team. I’m so looking forward to the challenges ahead!
Jaydee, I love this adorable card. It will definitely bring smiles to the hospital recipients. Your cat pictures are wonderful. Enjoy your day!
This collection of ephemera is summer on a card Jaydee – it makes me want to head off to the beach pronto! As for those cats of yours – they are certainly spoiled for warmth and a view!
Fun card and I truly love seeing pictures of your cats, especially Chilli.
Your card screams “summer fun”, Jaydee! The colors definitely give off a beachy vibe. It makes me wish I lived near the ocean. What a cool card kit! You nailed the theme for sure!
Your card says summer time fun for sure! I love all of the elements in it. Love your kitty too, ours is also a snuggle bug.
Thanks, Jean. He really is a cutie. Hope you are enjoying this summer weather – finally!!!

Ann, I wish we lived near the sea, too. It’s always been a wish of mine and here I am… in the middle of the US:-)
