Happy Thursday.
It’s my absolute pleasure to be guest designing for Time Out Challenges again this week. I was lucky enough to be the winner for challenge 293. You can see the challenge and my card at this link. It gave me the perfect excuse to bring out an old set from My Favorite Things called Mixtape.
As part of the winners package you get to guest design for Time Out for a future challenge, plus I received a great prize from Lawn Fawn, too. They are also generously sponsoring this challenge and the lucky winner gets a $25 gift voucher from Lawn Fawn!
MFT did make some fabulous music themed sets and this was one of them. I’m of the age that I can very clearly remember making mix tapes, playing them in my car whilst driving too and from work, singing at the top of my voice. Well, I use the term singing loosely! Good job I had the windows closed most of the time!
Here’s a sneak peek of my card:

The challenge at Time Out this week is to choose at least 2 items from the list. Here’s the list:

For my card I chose Music, Monochrome and Spatter. I started by die-cutting the individual elements for the tape with black and white cardstock. I chose my sentiment from the matching sentiment set and stamped the other elements – A for the A-side (remember those!) and 60 to indicate that the tape ran for 60 minutes.
I wanted to add some more interest to the background, and to anchor my focal element, so I brought out the Love stencil from Hero Arts that was included in my Jennifer McGuire crafty box and used a soft grey ink.
I then got out my metallic inks (courtesy of my bestie) and spattered some grey metallic spatters across the card. Once that was complete, I adhered the elements together, with 4 layers for my tape box. 3 of the layers were stuck at the top, I then added the layer for the tape itself, which was die-cut from some black vellum), and then added one more layer of the tape box behind it. Doing that gives it just a little bit of depth. I also stamped the sentiment where the tape would have been.
Here’s my full card:

OK… anyone else remember that the best way to ravel back an unravelled tape was with a squared off pencil. Round pencils or pens really just didn’t do the job well enough! Does anyone else remember driving down roads and finding unravelled, scrunched up, tapes that had been tossed out of the window by some poor listener in frustration? Oh, I do!
Anyway, we would love for you to play along with the Time Out Challenge this week. We really would love to see what you create with these words. The talented design team have some wonderful inspiration for you, so I hope you check those out as well.
I’ll be back tomorrow with another card. In the meantime, a huge thanks to the team at Time Out for having me along as guest designer for this challenge and warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need it tonight.

The challenge this week is generously sponsored by Lawn Fawn. A fabulous $25 gift certificate for the winning entry for this challenge.

This post properly took me down memory lane Jaydee – squared pencils and all!! A great card – that sentiment is the absolute icing on the cake too, just perfect!

Great card and you have given a lot of us a trip down Memory Lane! Thanks for guesting with us at Time Out with this fun card!
I love this card so much, Jaydee. It says so much in such a simple way. I remember all of the things you mentioned. Making mix tapes was so much fun and it was really fun to make them for gifts because you could tailor your song choices to the recipient – so special and so meaningful. I truly love the sentiment on this card. I just oozes love and support and thinking about the pencil winding trick just made me smile. I always love your art and your beautiful heart as well. Thanks once again for gracing us with your wonderful talents and for joining us as Guest Designer for this challenge. It is a joy to have you with us.
