Spellbinders Reindeer Roundup Dies for Freshly Made Sketches #710 and Inspire Create #204 Challenges

Happy Sunday – again!

I got into my craft room today and played along with the sketch challenge at Freshly Made and the theme challenge across at Inspire Create. I was looking through my goodies and saw a new set of dies that I received as a freebie from Scrapbook.com and thought they would work perfectly for these challenges. I was inspired by the two visitors we had in our backyard yesterday:-). The dies are called Reindeer Roundup and they are part of the Simon Hurley for Spellbinders collection.

Such pretty dies. Mind you, they take take quite a while to die cut all the pieces, ink blend them and then put them all together 🙂

Here are the two challenges:

I worked on the deer first. The set only comes with two dies, so I die-cut the standing deer twice, although I only gave one of them the wreath decoration. I then took a piece of Neenah Solar White 80# cardstock and ink blended 3 different shades of blue focusing the darker areas against the top, and then fading to white near the snow banks.

The snowbank at the back was cut with Pinkfresh Studio glitter cardstock, and the snowbank at the front with Neenah 110#. I needed a piece of white cardstock as I wanted to put the sentiment directly onto the card vs die-cutting and then glueing it.

I adhered the deer (try saying that 5 times!) 🙂 with foam squares with just a touch of glue for their hooves. I then splattered some white paint to emulate snow falling.
