Spellbinders Star Barn Wreath for Atlantic Hearts Sketches Challenge #657

Happy Thanksgiving Eve!

I have a quick post for you today. I managed to get into my craft room and make a couple of cards. The one for today uses the Star Barn Wreath die from Spellbinders. I was inspired to use it because of the sketch across at Atlantic Hearts Sketches. I paired the wreath die with a stencil from Altenew called Checkerboard Tiles.

Here’s a sneak peek:

I love this wreath. The star cuts out as one unit and it has two different insert patterns. It also comes with the foliage, orange, pinecones and bow that you see on the star.

Here’s the sketch from Atlantic Hearts:

I began with the background. I used the checkerboard tile stencil and some pale brown ink to create the square elements from the sketch.

I then die-cut the star with the pattern and backed it with a star cut from gold metallic cardstock. I then die-cut all the other elements and put them together.

For the pine leaves, I added a little shimmer and shine to some of them with my glitter paste. I didn’t want too much, just a touch.

I then added the sentiment to the focal layer and ran it through my empress with a frame die from Stampin’ Up! called Textured Notes.

I then arranged all the smaller elements and placed them in the center of the star. Lastly, I gently folded the wreath along the score lines and popped it up with some foam tape. The edges of the star were left unglued. I wanted to give a little lift to the star, without popping it up too much.

Here’s my card:

I know the team across at Atlantic Hearts would love it if you played along 🙂

I’ll be back tomorrow with another card. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Card recipe:

  • Dies: Star Barn Wreath – Spellbinders
  • Frame die: Textured Notes – Stampin’ Up!
  • Stencil: Checkerboard Tile – Altenew

Hugs

  1. Another gorgeous die! So very festive and I like the dark green of the star. It’s very striking. The subtle squares in the background work well. 🙂

  2. Stunning! While the star and wreath components are all beautiful, the stenciling behind them really brings them to life. I love the visual dimension it adds, right along with that wonderful frame. Happy Thanksgiving!

  3. Uh oh, you’re being an enabler again this week, Jaydee! That star diecut is AMAZING and I love how you’ve embellished it! So country! Love the colors, well, I love it all! I may have to do some Christmas shopping for myself! Thanks so much for playing with the Atlantic Hearts Sketch this week!

  4. I love how the background elements are on the paper, gives it a unique look, very cool. Great card! Thanks for playing along with the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge (AHSC).
