La-La-Land Christmas Eve DSP for As You See It Challenge #362

Happy Saturday.

I have a card for you today that I made using some fabulous DSP from La-La-Land called Christmas Eve. I am totally in love with these watercolor vignettes from La-La-Land. I have no idea when I am going to use all these luscious images, but the sketch across at As You See It this week gave me the perfect opportunity to pull out a piece and cut it up. Oh, I hated cutting it up – but it had to me done 🙂

Here’s a sneak peek:

For once I didn’t use a white base!!! The richness of the DSP really called for something more fitting, so I used some green card stock for my base instead.

Here’s the lots of layers sketch from As You See It designed by my very talented PP teamie, Jan Clothier – who loves lots of layers 🙂

challenge #362

It took me ages to decide exactly which sheet of DSP to feature, but I couldn’t resist the tree image from one side of the DSP and the church on the other. I thought they would pair well for the two vertical strips on the sketch.

I stamped a sentiment from the Traditional Labels set from SU with versamark and set it with gold embossing powder.

I die-cut the circular element from some old metallic gold card stock – also from SU. For the square element, I decided I didn’t want to cover up any more of that fabulous DSP, so I cut a square from some high quality vellum instead.

All the elements were arranged on a Forest Green base. Here’s my full card:

Oh, that paper just makes me happy! I know the talented team across at As You See It would love it if you played along.

I’ll be back tomorrow with another card. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Card recipe:

  • DSP: Christmas Eve – La-La-Land
  • Sentiment: Traditional Labels – Stampin’ Up
  • Card stock: Forest – The Stamp Market

Hugs

  1. Wow, Jaydee, this is beautiful! Those background papers are really something, and I love the shades of green with accents of gold! Just gorgeous! Thanks for playing with our sketch this week!

  2. Jaydee, you are a marvel! Firstly, the DSP is just wonderful and I love it. I want it to be the star of the show and I would absolutely have (well, probably would have) kept to a white base but your choice of a rich green is much better. What I do like is the way that you’ve tamed those layers – and let the DSP shine – by giving the eye resting points with the vellum square and the Crumb Cake circle. Thank you so much for playing along with us at As You See It and for encouraging other crafty friends to join in with us too. 🙂

  3. I do love your choice of DSP, Jaydee! And that the sentiment is the focal point! I like the way you didn’t compete with the beautiful paper by using a neutral square and vellum for the circle behind the sentiment! It all works so well! Thanks for using our sketch at As You See It!

  4. This feels like a real departure for you Jaydee, although there is still a ‘clean’ feel to this design. What a fabulous showcase of those papers though – you really have done them proud! And I love the green background – so rich and festive! Thanks for sharing with us over at As You See It!
