The Greetery Nordic Birds for Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #660

Happy Tuesday.

The talented team across at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge have a another great sketch for us this week. I was inspired to open a new set of dies I got as part of The Greetery’s thankful sale called Nordic Birds. I have absolutely NO idea why I chose this specific color scheme. Errr… not a usual color scheme for me! I bought this gorgeous paper from SU but have only managed to find a card to use it on once before – and that was my little Grinch hand card that you can see here. It’s gorgeous paper, but I just find it hard to use. Anyway, I thought a sheet of it would be great behind my birds!

Here’s the sketch from Atlantic Hearts:

I think I chose this paper because all I could sing in my head was “and a partridge in a pear tree!” The fact that it is pine/fir trees and not a pear tree is beside the point 🙂

I die-cut the birds with both white and gold cardstock and decided to go with white bodies and gold wings. I popped up the end of the wings and adhered the front directly to the body. That way they have just a little movement.

I then die-cut a piece of black cardstock as my focal panel and backed it with a piece of white. I added a sentiment from the Waffle Flower set called Elegant Christmas 2. It has become one of my favorite Christmas sentiment sets. I then adhered the birds to the focal panel. The focal panel has a couple of extra layers of cardstock on the back as I wanted it to sit proud of the card base.
