Happy Sunday.
It's the fabulous Joanne's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and it's color week and it was another chance for me to showcase my favorite Stampin' Up! set – Prized Peony:
So, I have to be honest, Melon Mambo is one of my least favorite colors. I just find it a little too bright for my taste. I love what other people do with it, but I do like that Joanne paired it with Night of Navy to offset it. However, I did take the chicken way out this week and used it sparingly!
I brought out my beloved Prized Peony and used the pink and mango on the flower petals. I used the Pool Party for the leaves and allowed the Night of Navy to ground all the colors. Here's my card:
You can see I used my bricks and mortar embossing folder to add a little texture to the layer behind the flower and used an embossed stitched rectangle to frame everything.
The design team have some fabulous inspiration for you:
On a personal noe:
A cool start to the day today – and another overcast day. It really is beginning to remind me of England :-) Sounds like another perfect day to make a quick escape to my crafting cave to catch up with some challenge prep. "Our" orioles, grosbeaks and many of the other summer birds have left having successfully raised their babies. We still have the feeders out, but are now feeding those that are coming through having summered further up north. Our echinacea are still flowering and providing a home for insects that attract the birds. The butterfly weed continues to self-seed and we let it be!
For those of you who might not have seen last night's post – here's another shot of the fabulous Pileated. This pair were also successful in raising babies this year!
Last Sunday we decided to sit outside with a cup of tea and enjoy the birds and the warm sun. It wasn't as humid as it had been, so it was wonderful on the deck. Lou managed to enjoy the fruits of his labor. Painting the deck railing really was a laborious task – but we absolutely love the new blue-grey color. The lime green pouffs are perfect for resting weary feet and add a pop of color. We haven't brought the dining table up yet – we still have to do that. However, we do enjoy the herbs from the herb garden! Looking at the photo it's hard to believe that the deck is almost 30 feet wide. It's a favorite place for us to sit and watch the birds and just enjoy nature.
I'll be back tomorrow with another card. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee

Oh, how I long to sit on your deck with you and enjoy your birds and flowers! But, most of all it would be delightful to meet you! I so admire you!
This card is gorgeous! I love the three layers and the embossing! I always think embossing adds so much detail! Peonies are a favorite of mine. Too difficult to grow in GA. My Mom used to have them in Indiana! Have a lovely week!
Love the pretty layers and gorgeous bloom! You used the colors so beautifully!!
Your deck looks delightful! I would love to get a rug for my patio but DH is nixing it..gotta work on him! Love your pretty peony too, a great way to use those colors!
Gorgeous card, Jaydee! Your flower is perfectly colored! I am also a smidge envious of your yard – garden – deck – pileateds!! All wonderful! 🙂
Mixing the melon and mango colors worked beautifully Jaydee, and grounding everything with the navy panel was such a great design idea! Gorgeous card, as always!
Your deck is amazing!l I would find it difficult not to ignore all the “must dos” and just sit watching all the nature activity.
I would never have thought to use these colours with the peony set in this way, but it totally works and is fabulous! I love the way the pink is used as an accent – it really highlights the Mango colour. Gorgeous Jaydee – just like the flowers in your yard!
First of all…I LOVE your deck! Yep…there is no way I would ever get a thing done, because I would be lounging out there all day! Your card is amazing! I LOVE the layout. The touches of Melon Mambo with the Mango Melody on the flower is absolutely stunning!
