Whisky Business for Color Throwdown 604 and it’s blooper night!

Happy Saturday.

I have a card I made for one of our besties to share with you tonight.  I made it using some vellum, card stock and the fabulous masculine set from Stampin' Up! called Whiskey Business.  The colors across at Color Throwdown were just about perfect.

I stamped the whisky bottle and glass onto opaque vellum with StazOn. I left it for a few minutes to make sure it was dry and then I colored it from the back with my Copics.  Because the vellum is opaque, it took a slightly colder color than I had anticipated, so I hope the CTD team will forgive me that the color isn't quite caramel enough!  I stamped the woodgrain image onto the bottom of the focal layer and then added the whisky bottle and glass popped up with clear foam tape.  Here's a closeup of the side:

The great thing about the clear foam tape is that you can hardly see it from the front.  You have to look really closely to see it.  I applied it to areas where there was more coverage to help disguise it even more.  Here's the full card:

As our bestie is a whisk(e)y lover, I thought he would really appreciate this card!

On a personal note:

Lou and I are still trying to do some last minute touches to the deck.  Today was a quick visit to the nursery to get a couple of plants and Lou put some solar downlights on the uprights!  How's that for a contradiction :-)  So, we are holding our breath and hoping that they do come on tonight!

I'll be back tomorrow with my Paper Players card but, before I go, I thought I'd share a couple of photos with you.  Sometimes the birds do not cooperate and move at the last minute!  See here are a couple of bird photo bloopers

Almost Oriole (1 of 1)

The male Baltimore Oriole is one of the most gorgeous birds – but he did not want to be seen!

This one could work for Halloween… I could not get this guy to sit still… so here is the little known Ghostly Catbird!

Lastly, the Rubythroated Hummingbird practicing social distancing.  I obviously got too close and he pushed off as I hit the shutter button!

I hope they made you smile.  Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. The birds are also learning the lesson about social distancing. Yesterday I thought so much about you . . . I saw four beautiful butterflies . . . quite big!! . . . but I do not know their names. Have a great day!!

  2. Great looking whiskey card. I’m sure your friend will enjoy it.
Thanks for sharing your birdie pictures.
    Have an enjoyable day

  3. Jaycee, where does one get the clear foam tape? I love the idea of the whiskey on vellum and as soon as my stamp set arrives i’m going to try it!

  4. Mary, it really does work well on vellum. I like the opaque as it helps hide the tape a little better. šŸ™‚ Here’s the link to the one that I use https://www.amazon.com/KOOL-TAK-Clear-16-Inch-1-6-Yard/dp/B0080E8334/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=kool+tak&qid=1596378525&sr=8-3
There are other versions, including one kooltak which comes in little squares, but I haven’t tried those. Don’t forget to share a photo/link when you have created your card. We’d love to see it

  5. Marina, so jealous of your butterfly sightings. We saw a new one for us yesterday but, by the time I had gotten my camera, he had fluttered off and he didn’t come back!

  6. Love the vellum for the bottle and glass. Clear foam tape?? I’ve often wanted a clear version but didn’t know it existed. Thanks for the link. This is a great masculine card, my brother’s favorite drink is an old fashioned.

  7. Joan, so glad the link was useful for you. I don’t use it often but it really does work pretty well. you just have to find the right places to hide it šŸ™‚
