Forever Blossoms for Paper Players #498

Happy Sunday.

It's the fabulous Ann's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week.  For my card, I decided to ink up the main flower from the Stampin' Up! Forever Blossoms – one of my favorites.   Here's our  challenge:

Anyone who has followed me for a while knows that fancy folds aren't "my thing".  I always do the same old A2 with almost no variation.  So, it was wonderful to be pushed out of my comfort zone this week.  Mine is a pretty easy fold – front piece of the card stock folded in half – back on itself!  I think that's what they call a "z fold"! The fancy piece comes in the way I die-cut the flower.  I die-cut only half of the flower.  I also stamped the flower inside the card.  That way, when the front piece is folded back, it looks as though there are sprigs of flowers.  It was really hard to take a photo of this to show you!

Here's a look at it from a different angle – so you can see the inside:

As always, the design team have some fabulous inspiration for you:

I'll be back later with another card.  Before I go – here's a look at what has been visiting our feeder.  Today, it's the male Grosbeak.  He was determined NOT to look at me.  Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift today.

  1. Beautiful Jaydee! I love the added dimension from the die cut on the fold and as always, your coloring is gorgeous. The stitched detail is a fabulous added touch, too. Have a great day, my friend!

  2. This is a great way to change it up a little without getting over-complicated Jaydee; partial diecutting is a very cool technique and works great with your pretty blossoms. Great bird photo too this week!

  3. Those blooms are gorgeous Jaydee, and the fold was a clever way to showcase partial die cutting! I’m with you, I rarely do fancy folds so this challenge was definitely that for me too!
That male grosbeak is so handsome, I always look forward to your nature pics!

  4. First, GREAT shot of that grosbeak! We had one earlier in spring! So pretty! And pretty is your card as well…I am glad I am not the only one “fancy-fold challenged”! You did those flowers justice!

  5. Gorgeous! Love the way you stamped the inside to continue the image when the card opened! 🙂 And – I love your visitor – he’s so handsome, and pretty cute the way he refuses to have his picture taken! 🙂

  6. Wow, Jaydee! I LOVE the way you modified this Z fold into a partial diecut…VERY clever! This is such a beautiful card, and the soft coloring is perfect. Thank you so much for rocking my challenge this week!

  7. Gorgeous card…I am in love with the stitching on the inside! Would those happen to be stitch only dies? If so, I seriously need them in my collection!
