HI Everyone. Happy Sunday.
It's the fabulous Joanne's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and it's Tic-Tac-Toe week!
For my card, I went straight across the middle: die-cut, spring, birthday. One of my favorite things in our wetland are the wild iris that come up every Spring. We have watched them multiply over the years. My Mom loved a vase of iris flowers in the kitchen and when I saw them growing in our wetland the first year we were here, I felt as though Mom had organized for Mother Nature to place them there – because they don't grow anywhere else in the wetland that we can see.
I colored the iris with my Prismacolors and die-cut them. I added some texture to the background with a brick stencil and some embossing paste.
Here's my card:
Here's a closeup of the coloring. I am always surprised by how many colors I use when I'm coloring with my pencils.
I hope you will join us and play along. We can't wait to see what you create with the Tic-Tac-Toe. As usual, the design team have some fabulous inspiration for you:
On a personal note:
Lou and I were supposed to be away, but with the cancellation of travel plans due to Coronavirus, we have decided to take some time off from work anyway. As we are grounded for the next two weeks, I will be spending lots of time in my craft room making cards for bringsmilestoseniors This is in honor of my Mother who was a Matron of a senior nursing home – and also inspired by one of my long time blog readers – Kelly, who's grandma is celebrating a big birthday this year and cannot receive visitors because of the Coronavirus Pandemic. Mom used to talk about how sad it was that so many of the elderly did not receive visitors, or flowers, or cards. So, reading the About Us page for bringsmilestoseniors, really touched a nerve for me, especially at this time.
So, I should have lots of cards to share with you during the next 10 days. In addition to card making, I will be spring cleaning and changing out the curtains and rugs, etc. I am SO ready to welcome warmer weather. It might officially be Spring…. but we are under a Winter Weather Advisory for tonight! So, Winter has not yet given up her grip.
I hope you and your families are all well. Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee

Your iris are popping off the card, so realistic. And your coloring is fantastic. Looking forward to seeing your cards this week as you have your staycation. Thank you for your talent.
These iris are so realistic, I feel like I could reach out and touch them! I have Japanese iris growing in my flower bed, and they never fail to disappoint! Lovely spring creation!
Your irises are so gorgeous Jaydee! The pencil coloring really does add nice texture but you’ve also done a wonderful job blending all those colors. I’m sorry you had to miss your special cruise, so I hope being at home with your husband will bring a different kind of joy. Take care and stay healthy!
Oh my goodness, Jaydee – this card is just stunning! I love all the beautiful details! Have fun making cards for such a good cause – will be a jewel in your crown, for sure. But…so sorry you missed your cruise! Stay safe and healthy! 🙂
The colouring of the irises is beautiful. That colour is one of my facourites and just sings Spring!
Those irises are gorgeous Jaydee! I love the way you’ve coloured them and placing them against the textured brickwork was an inspired decision. Your story about feeling that your mother organised for the irises to be growing near your house touched me. How lovely to be able to be reminded of her when you see them. Have fun changing all the rugs and curtains for the spring – I’ll be doing the same. And enjoy making cards for such a good cause too. Vicky x
Jaydee, your coloring is absolutely gorgeous! You really brought them to life, especialy with the contrast of that textured background. Just an all around gorgeous card, my friend. Wow!
